Publisher's Summary

In this thought-provoking audiobook, Tobias Leenaert leaves well-trodden animal advocacy paths and takes a fresh look at the strategies, objectives, and communication of the vegan and animal rights movement. He argues that given our present situation, with entire societies dependent on using animals, we need a very pragmatic approach. How to Create a Vegan World contains many valuable ideas and insights for both budding advocates for animals and seasoned activists, organizational leaders, and even entrepreneurs.

Thought Provoking

I've been vegan for just over a year now and there were a number of books about veganism that were on my list to read as I took up this lifestyle. This one had been on the list a while and I think I put it off for so long as it looked more like a text book than others. However, this is a really interesting read and quite different to many books on veganism I had read.

The author makes some very good points that any changes or influence we can have on the reduction of consumption of animals for food is a positive step in the right direction. He encourages collaboration and discussion among vegans and non-vegans rather than the us or them mentality that we sometimes have. The arguments are all well presented and very thought provoking. I feel like if I had read this at the start of my vegan journey it might have been a bit over my head, but now it really opened my eyes to different ways of thinking about what it means to be vegan.

I did think the narrator was a little clunky at times, particularly when he was reading quotes, but overall a decent performance.

Eye opening

This book was really eye opening and I could resonate with a lot of what Tobias wrote. I feel like this will help me be a lot more effective in my communication with others about veganism (without alienating people) and genuinely believe it helps me foresee a vegan world (whereas it seemed a far-fetched dream before). I also feel like I can connect a lot better to the idea of pragmatic veganism rather than idealistic veganism, because it feels like it helps people see veganism as more sustainable and achievable (and is more inclusive, which just generally feels better and allows for more prosperous relationships with others).

Not just for vegans

This book is one of the defining books for a better world, a healthy planet & compassion towards both, humans & animals. Everyone should read this book as it offers an olive branch both ways between the vegans & nonvegans. Only through empathy if each other’s position can we move forward in a peaceful & harmonious way.

Anyone who is veganFTA, not vegan or anywhere on that spectrum should read it.
