Publisher's Summary

Good Sugar Bad Sugar tackles the biggest dietary threat to the modern world: sugar.

Due to refined sugar in so many foods, we are seeing epidemics of obesity and type II diabetes on a global scale.

The warnings are stark - a 50 percent rise in the death toll from type II diabetes in the next 10 years - yet it's not as straightforward as telling people to cut down on the sugar. Sugar consumption is an addiction that begins at birth, and it requires a proven method to get you free.

Good Sugar Bad Sugar applies Allen Carr's Easyway method to this problem of sugar addiction, unraveling the brainwashing that makes us see sugary food as a pleasure or a crutch and replacing it with clearly explained logic.

It worked for me!

Two weeks without sugar and I’m feeling fantastic- thank you Alan Carr!! A great audiobook - I listened to one chapter each evening to slowly absorb it all. If you are struggling giving up sugar try this, it was my last resort... Finally I know I’ve given up this time. Get it, you won’t regret it 👍

Concept great - hard to implement

Concept great and agree with author. though implementation is about eating natural food i.e. fruit. I don't like fruit! makes hard to implement. 🙄

SUGAR ADDICT - FREED FOREVER!

Wow. Just wow! I got this book after hearing a rave review about the quit drinking version. I have been a sugar addict for most of my life and I still can’t actually believe this works - and it did immediately. Basically you have to be prepared to give up sugar and refined carbs forever. There’s definitely a switch flicked in the brain when you make the promise to yourself to give these up for good. If you’re a sugar addict and have tried everything - TRY THIS BOOK!

Still crave sugar

I already eat a low carb (most of the time) as I was already aware of the health effects of a high carb diet however it takes will power to follow it. Was hoping this would help me kick the will power, it hasn’t

Richard Mitchley is terrific

Read this book with an open mind and if you take out nothing more than a growing awareness of a building reservation for carbs and processed sugar products, you will be a better person for it. I love just listening to Richard Mitchley, so coupled with the common sense and eye opening narrative from Allen Carr this book has my highest go back and listen again for fun score.

well read and informative

Read well by British speaker with enthusiasm for content. I needed this book because I have tried all other methods to deal with sugar addiction without success. I was so bad that I'm 40kg overweight, unfit and sick. I laughed that I had every hang up that Allen Carr could think of, in one person. I finished the book yesterday and happily report that today is the first day of my free and healthy life. I have stopped eating sugar and I'm totally interested in living life to the full. Without sugar and not missing it's poison at all.

Great guide and easy listening.

Definitely one to recommend. Great structure, easy to listen to. Good format. I'm sure I can win the battle now.

This book is a tool

Giving a book like this a 5-star review is a little strange but I have great reasoning. Allen Carr has shown me how to be a non-smoker with his Easyway method. It works for me and it works on a logical level. He gives you the information and guides you to the mind frame of not wanting the nicotine, or in this case the Bad Sugar. This book does the exact same thing and it can really help you FEEL better without feeling deprived. It's not overly entertaining and to be honest, there really isn't any secret or surprise information within this book. What is there is an organized and reinforced method to reset your mind and show you the path to better health. This works for me, someone who doesn't think Self Help books are useful. It gets a 5 because if you have an addiction problem, and if you are looking at this book you probably do (I did), this option should be the first place you look.

Carr changes lives.

Carr has described addiction and found a solution to any type of addiction. Read his stop smoking book, too. The same problem and solution, but characterized for a nicotine addiction. I am floored at what Carr has done for me. Here, Good Sugar Bad Sugar has completely removed the desire for sugar and processed foods. It's given me my palate back. If you've seen obesity and/or addiction up close you know... This book will help you understand the addicted mind. I've dieted down to approx 10% bf in the last several years, but simply could not stop eating sugar/processed foods. I have read Carr's stop smoking book, but could not apply it to food/sugar on my own. This book bridged the gap and is priceless to me. Priceless.

Helped me quit sugar

The book did exactly as advertised, it helped me quit sugar for good. I've tried off and on but always found myself "treating" myself back to it. This book helped me get out the lies that kept me coming back occasionally, trapping myself all over again. Unexpectedly, I also discovered how to eat less and still feel satisfied thanks to this book. I Also have an idea how to conquer any addiction by the principles found in this book. Highly recommend!

As good as "quite smoking"

So far lost 42 pounds (in 5 months) and it is not the end, if you ever had a problem with weight, add this book in "must read", if it will not change your life after you read it first time, just read second time

Great concepts. it's worth a read even tho the nutrition information is dated. I would share this if my friends they wanted to rid themselves of sugar.

Excellent

With Allen Carr I have completely quit alcohol and sugar with no desire for either. I don't feel deprived, but more like a bird who's cage just got opened. If this book doesn't do it for you in quitting sugar, also read Sugar Blues by William Duffy.

seriously bad.

whole book is completely repetitive. based on a method that involves you telling yourself and believing that sugar doesnt taste good. If you don't beleive that, the method won't work.

Really got me off the sugar

Would you listen to Good Sugar Bad Sugar again? Why?

Yes I've listened to it a couple of times. I did have a time when I went back on the sugar and couldn't get off it. I've also, got back on the sugar, but managed to get myself back off it, so it does owrk

What was one of the most memorable moments of Good Sugar Bad Sugar?

just stating the facts that I already know, actually hearing it in black and white makes a difference

It is OK

Useful book for people having issues with sugar. Although if you are one of them (like I used to be) I would recommend you the documentary "The Sugar Film", which gives much more facts in a shorter time and exciting form. After the movie, the book seems a bit too long and repeating itself (although I guess it is part of the method). But it's not boring.

Really helpful

I listened to this in chunks while driving and at home when decorating. It was a subtle change, I continued eating chocolate etc but after a while noticed I wasn’t picking at biscuits or cake. I finished off the Christmas chocolate and didn’t feel my usual sense of panic and deprivation, and I haven’t rushed out for new supplies. Instead I’m discovering the joys of my local greengrocer. Early days, but a good start.

Great book, just try it you won't be disapointed

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes, this book is great - it breaks down all the myths of sugar and why we have been lied to for years. I read his how to stop smoking almost 2.5 years ago and I haven't touched a ciggerette and nor do I want to, now I am using this technique with sugar - I don't think this book is as good as his how to stop smoking range but I still think its great and deff. worth a listen.

What about Richard Mitchley’s performance did you like?

Good.

Another amazing easyway

Having been a slave to sweets and sugar for as long as I can remember I was delighted to know there was an easyway from Allen Carr that addresses the issue. Someone gave me a copy of stop smoking and I did indeed stop. These books are a game changer. Open your mind to what Allen is saying and you are pretty much guaranteed success.

Great read

Would you listen to Good Sugar Bad Sugar again? Why?

This is a great read - very sensible approach to the whole sugar problem. Made me realise just how it influences me and why. Has made me very aware (and surprised) of what's been going on in my body and, more importantly, why I've never been able to control myself where sugar's concerned! Feel quite liberated now I've knocked it on the head! :)
