When Yanni Tomaras is kicked out of his family home, his parents' final words are religious insults and an order to never return. An intense but great read
A very well written story of healing, growing and finding friendship, family and love. A great way to finish off the Spencer Cohen series

A story of hope
I loved, loved this story. After reading the rest of the Spencer Cohen stories I was a bit reluctant to take on an audiobook this long but I’m so glad I did. It was my favourite of the series. And as always, Joel gave a perfect performance. He really is the best narrator of all. Such a wonderful story, and so beautifully told. ❤️🌈

A wonderful story full of hope
Although part of a series this could be read as a standalone, but I think you would be missing some major points.
Yanni, who we meet with Spencer gets his own story. We do find out more about his past but the story starts where Spencer’s story left off. We find out more about his abuse but we do not relive it with him.
We follow Yanni as he and Peter develop their relationship, as he moves on with his life and learns to live again.
My favourite part is the very end where we hat a “where are they now” segment!

A beautiful story
Joel Leslie easily jumps between characters and accents to tell a beautiful story of gut-wrenching lows and enduring hope. Joel Leslie is the only non-Australian narrator I’ve ever listened to who can actually nail an Australian accent.
Yanni’s story picks up after Spencer’s ends. Yanni is a fragile but powerful character and his slow burn relationship with Peter is thoughtfully crafted by NR Walker.
Highly recommend reading/listening to the Spencer Cohen series first for context. I only wish there were more books in the series.

Great
In general I loved the performance. The characters are really well done. The only thing that bothered me, and it really really bothered me, was that like a lot of overseas narrators place names are mispronounced. I thought Bondi Beach was pretty well known, but if you have never heard of it wouldn’t you google how to pronounce it?
