Publisher's Summary

This isn't another "I hate you because I secretly love you" story. Boy really does hate girl. And this isn't just a forbidden love story. This is obsession at its darkest.

I don't believe in fairy tales and Prince Charming.

I believe in fear.

He taught me how to be afraid.

We first met on a playground on a wonderful summer day. It was the first time he hurt me and it wouldn't be the last. For 10 years, he's been my tormentor and I've been his forbidden. But then he went away, and yet I was still afraid.

Now, he's back, and wants more than just my tears. You see...he thinks I sent him away so now he wants revenge...and he knows just how to get it.

Awesome start

I’ve read this series, so the start line is no surprise to me. It’s dark and thrilling and mysterious. I love dark books and there aren’t nearly enough on audio, so for B.B. Reid to come to Audible is very exciting.

Fear Me is where we meet all the characters in this series but is focused on Kieran and Lake. Lake is the good girl who makes the right and good decisions and Kieran is the bad boy who has come to ruin her. The book starts out just this simple but morphs into a book about so much more depravity that you will stunned as the hours tick by.

Ava Erickson is of course a brilliant narrator for the job. The perfect mix of innocent and coming of age then throw in her ability to narrate the male voice and you can easily stay inside the book and not be pulled out by the narration at all.

The only thing I wish the editing would have done is made the flashbacks a little easier to decipher. There were a few times that I had to rewind and relisten wondering what I missed because it was clearly a flashback that I didn’t catch onto.

This story had me pulling my hair out!

This story was so intense! The fact that I did not know what was going through K's head made it even more intense. I liked how I was going blind just as was Lake. I wanted to punch K so many times and a minute later wanted to pounce him! I just thought K was too controlling for my taste, but Lake actually likes it so if it flows your boat, go for it. I understood why the two other guys were so protective of K, they did not know the missing player participating in the game. This is a long series, and I get the feeling you need to listen to all the books to understand what's happening.

The performance was awesome for Ava! Ava portrayed their unconventional "relationship" perfectly and It helped immensely for me to continue listening. Its safe to say I will definitely continue to listen the following books!

AWESOME SERIES!

This book just sucked me in and didn't let go until I finished all 5 books back to back. I fell in love with Keiran and Lake and all of their friends. There was some hot sex scenes. I totally loved Keiran and his crazy possessive ways.

I just can't...

I tried, really did. But I don't find it attractive or find it healthy to lust after or develop feelings over a long period of time for a juvenile delinquent that's repeatedly telling you " I'm going to kill you." And the narrator needs to learn how to say voluptuous. Couldn't finish it.

NO WAY IN HELL.

I refuse to finish this garbage. Don't read if you feel that 17 year old girls should have any type of self esteem or self worth.

LAME

This book is so lame! Why would someone write a story like this about TEENAGERS?! College, maybe but high schoolers? Who wants to picture 17 and 18 year olds having rough sex and being covered in hickies!? GROSS! The story didn't even get interesting until the last chapters. Horrible story!

I freaking LOVED this book

Okay so the topic is taboo, with (IMO) dubious consebg...But there are a ton of books out there with worse stuff out there. I loved Kieran's young, alpha male, dominant asshole-ish self! If you don't like against all odds stores than this isn't the book or series for you but for me and my book club- we freaking LOVED IT!! BB Reid...PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE put the rest of your books on audio. I'm a crafter and no longer have the bandwidth to curl up with a book. Also- Ava Erickson ROCKED this book out! She's hilarious with her tone and emotion and never sounds like she's reading. Even tho she doesn't have the best male voice on the world, her overall performance makes up for it.

Air headed Female MC

He is pretty darn awful to her; from isolation to hostage situations to broken bones and hurting the people around her.

That’s all well and good for a storyline.. my issue is that regardless of all the shit.. she is always in love with him.

Okay. Also, well and good (not really, reading through the eyes of a weak and spineless heroine is not very entertaining)

But she’s dumb. She doesn’t realize basic shit like: 1+1=2. She’s unaware of the obvious, she chooses her battles poorly, she asks HELLA dumb questions.. and the worst?

If she could at least find it in herself to admit she enjoys the treatment, I’d respect her. As it’s written though? ... everything bad that happened to her made me smile and say “good.”

I kept reading out of curiosity, not enjoyment. Won’t continue the series.

Guess I’m a masochist too.

Also downloaded the written version so I could skim past the dumb shit I couldn’t waste brain cells on.

Really?

I really like this author, but I could not make it past chapter 15. Look, I listen to shape shifters and blue aliens, but I just could NOT believe this high school BOY had the sophistication, sexual finesse, and street cred of a much older male lead. If the aurhor had made these characters at LEAST 10 years older, I would have given this review a 4.

Not even sure what is going on

I’ve really struggled with this book if I’m honest, the storyline is bizarre and strange and not in a good way. I’m all for dominant males but this just goes too far... stopped listening 4 hours from the end as I’d totally lost interest.

so emotional

Wow this book is so dark. It's all about a bully Kieran and his victim Lake, It all starts when they are very young and carries on for years until they are teenagers and Kieran starts growing feelings for Lake but he tries so hard to deny how he feels. Kieran had such a dark childhood and had no emotion but he can't stop thinking about his obsession Lake. It all starts with Kieran treating Lake so awful because he hates that he has feeling for her. I read this book a while ago and always thought it would do well as audio. If you like dark books then give this a go but if it's romance and hearts and flowers this is so not the book for you. Ava Erickson did an amazing job and brought the story to life. I look forward to the next book in the series.
