It's been four years since I became another statistic. I made a lot of mistakes when it came to Keenan Masters. The first was loving him at all. He took something from me the night he left, and when I told him I still loved him, he told me he'd always hate me. After that, I learned how to be okay...until he came back. Gone was the boy who always knew how to make me laugh, and in his place was a cold, arrogant monster.

He literally abuses her, it’s not even just roughly handling her. He literally hangs her over a balcony by her throat threatening to kill her until she passes out. The things Keenan does to Sheldon triggered me more then the way Keiren treated Lake in the last 2 books.
His hatred is so displaced which he admits to himself at the beginning of the book yet continues to punish her anyway. He really had no one to blame but himself because of the way he repeatedly cheated on her. Other then the teacher thing, the other times weren’t justified at all. But I still felt for him in ways that broke my heart when the author let his emotions show through the mask he wore. Or when he would admit to himself his actions made him sick or he regretted what he did. This author is really good at making you hate & love a character at the same time.
Sheldon was so strong willed and didn’t take any shit in the previous books so to see her let Keenan treat her the way he does in this book hurt my heart! I was so desperate for the old funny loving Keenan to make a come back, especially after the flash backs that showed how sweet he was to her before (when he wasn’t cheating). The last 10 minutes of this book absolutely melted me. I definitely fell in love with Keenan again at the end.
It was a rough ride but I’m glad I finished the book. I’m looking forward to finding out more answers in the next book of the series. There are still a few loose ends left in this one!
