Publisher's Summary

This grave can never be opened.

The head of Scotland’s most powerful crime family is brutally murdered; his body dumped inside an ancient grave in a remote cemetery.

This murder can never be forgotten.

Detectives Max Craigie and Janie Calder arrive at the scene, a small town where everyone has secrets to hide. They soon realise this murder is part of a blood feud between two Scottish families that stretches back to the 1800s. One thing’s for certain: it might be the latest killing, but it won’t be the last....

This killer can never be caught.

As the body count rises, the investigation uncovers large-scale corruption at the heart of the Scottish Police Service. Now Max and Janie must turn against their closest colleagues - to solve a case that could cost them far more than just their lives....

Every superlative justified

This is exactly the book I was looking for. A great series by an author new to me, with a fresh take on Tartan Noire.,

This pair, author and narrator, will have you wishing the book would never end.

How can anyone say they don’t like Angus Kung as a narrator? He’s the one that brings this wonderfully entertaining book by Neil Lancaster to life, the perfect pairing. Can’t wait for more, I love these guys . I just wish they had more work together, perfect way to kill a day……

Good read

Good story which sets the scene for a continuing series.
Love Angus Kings narration, as usual, but then I could listen to that man read the phone book.
Looking forward to the next book.

Sorely disappointed

I’ve listened to many similar narrations but this one was too forced for many of the characters. All the females ended up sounding like airheads. And there was so much dialogue which seemed to cloud the story.

Brilliant and captivating 😀😎☠️

To anyone who reads this, don't believe others when they criticise the plausibility or substance of the story, or don't like the narrator...you can't get a better narrator than Angus King, and the way the story developed kept me captivated and had me smile with the ingenuity of Max's plans...will definitely follow this series...thank you! 😁👍🇦🇺
