Has Ben Hope finally met his match?
The master best seller returns with the explosive follow-up to Star of Africa. The second in a two-part series.
Held hostage by a despicable tyrant in the heart of Africa - within the lawless and unforgiving Congo - it's not looking good for Ben Hope. Even worse, someone very important to him has fallen into the enemy's hands, and they're using this against Ben as part of a depraved plan to bend him to their will.
The main characters are morons, there is no way special service soldiers would act in the way the characters did in this book, as for Benz so-called son he needs belting, he cost thousands of lives Freezone arrogant self-righteous stupidity and this contrived story One minute Ben is really smart intelligent you have a minute is making stupid erratic decisions. Really this is about bad writing, the author was trying to contrive situations and scenes and the Cotuit is violence went on way too long, we got the point Africa is tough.
Gruesome & unnecessarily gory in places. NOT for kids. I know these horrors go on in Africa but I don't think it's needed in entertainment.
One of the best in the Ben Hope series. The story really takes you there. Fantastic performance by narrator.
This was a hard read! I am a big fan of the Ben hope books and have read them all to date but the last 2 were tough. I had to switch to audiobook because of the content being so dark. I might take a break from them for a bit.
Before starting this book I did listen to part I, I would recommend it & read some reviews.
The books are full of great action, sympathetic & gruesome characters in equal parts, a full grasp of Africa.... politically etc plus many twists & turns.
I enjoyed both books, particularly this one & certainly recommend to anyone who thrives on action & adventure..... wonderful!
Like all of Scott's stories. Fast, full of action, hard to put down. Just plain brilliant.
Awesome book great story usual gripping stuff can't wait for the next, hopefully that will be released soon !!!!
As this was part of two books it was hard to score the first book but now I have listened to them both I have to say very good books could have made this one book but hey ho .
Totally enthralled by this rollercoaster of a book
Ben hope wipes the floor with his contemporaries
Another page turner from the author. Though must wart readers who are sensitive that this book is quite violent in parts
The last book "Star of Africa" left a lot hanging.....this is a solid end and was worth the wait.
