First off if you are a scholar of Celtic studies this book is not for you. I do have a deep interest in ancient Celtic society and mythology and hence I found this book frustrating. To start with the introduction is following an outdated model of a Celtic empire. Then the retold myths have been sanitized and oversimplified in this case. To the point, I swear Mr. Lopez is following Lady Gregory's "clean" version of the "book of invasions". There are critical stories missing or reduced to a few pages. It's basically an abridged and somewhat boring retelling of some of the major classics. To add insult to all this the Voice Talent has been given the wrong direction of the pronunciation of the Irish, which can be tricky and it's a straight verbalization of what is presented. It's not a good example of retelling of these myths by a long shot. This is the first book I'm returning to Audible.
