Story
A victim killed with a single, precise stab to the heart appears at first glance to be a robbery gone wrong. A caring, upstanding social worker lost to a senseless act of violence. But for Detective Kim Stone, something doesn't add up. When a local drug addict is found murdered with an identical wound, Kim knows instinctively that she is dealing with the same killer. But with nothing to link the two victims except the cold, calculated nature of their death, this could be her most difficult case yet.

They thought they were safe. They were wrong.
The murder of a young prostitute and a baby found abandoned on the same winter night signals the start of a disturbing investigation for Detective Kim Stone - one which brings her face to face with someone from her own horrific childhood.
As more sex workers are murdered in quick succession, each death more violent than the last, Kim and her team realize that the initial killing was no one-off frenzied attack, but a twisted serial killer preying on the vulnerable.
At the same time, the search begins for the desperate woman who left her newborn baby at the station - but what looks like a tragic abandonment turns even more sinister when a case of modern slavery is uncovered.
The two investigations bring the team into a terrifying world of human exploitation and cruelty - and a showdown that puts Kim's life at risk as shocking secrets from her own past come to light.

Great Story
Well crafted story, full of intrigue, but PLEASE stop using this narrator. I hate to be negative about someones performance, but this lady completely misses inflection and nuance, distorting the story line to torture. It is painful to hear and everytime I buy a book she reads I seriously regret it.

Enjoyable but why the angry voice?
Kim Stone is a great character and this is one of the best stories of the series -- but i have a hard time with Jan Cramer's overdone angry voice. Sure, Kim is described as sarcastic but she is made to sound like some kind of sadistic, yelling headmistress. And it's not clear why she has a middle class Southern accent when she grew up in poverty in the Midlands. The other women all speak with a caricatural Brummy school girl voice, which admittedly wouldn't give Kim much authority. Feels like the narrator gets carried away with virtuoso accents and forgets what's actually being said.

Outstanding detectve novel by Angela Marsons
This is the 7th novel in the Detective Kim Stone series by Angela Marsons. Like almost all novels in the series Broken Bones easily qualifies for a 5 star rating. It is a very dark suspense mystery about a serial killer. The identification of the killer at the end of the book comes as a surprise to the listener. Woven into the story is a situation that can only be described as slavery.
British author Angela Marsons is among the elite writers of suspense mysteries in the world today. I have all 9 of her audio books in my Audible library and all are outstanding. British actress Jan Cramer narrates the Kim Stone series novels flawlessly.

One of my favorite crimes series
This book has been out for more than a month now and despite my excitement about a new Kim Stone book, I held off on reading it as soon as I got my hands on it. I know that sounds weird, especially since this is one of my favorite series, but I knew as soon as I finished I would be desperate for the next book anyway so I decided to show some restraint for once in my life. My patience paid off because I ended up having the opportunity to listen to the audio version and it was outstanding, it definitely enhanced my experience, I absolutely loved it. I think everyone has heard me rave about this series and Marsons talent as a writer several times before, so I’ll try and spare you and won’t repeat myself too much and just say that these books honestly just get better, sharper, and darker in each installment and are always intricately plotted and shocking. Two things make this series standout among a hundred other police procedurals for me. First, Marsons always seems to have her finger on the pulse of society and addresses current issues in a compassionate and educational way while still managing to be exciting and fresh. This time Kim and team are dealing with immigration issues, prostitution and even slavery. Using extremely important issues in her novels lends an authenticity that is unmatched, it serves to bring a human connection to an otherwise grim plot. Secondly, she keeps her characters constantly evolving, she reveals new things about their pasts and who they are in each book and oftentimes surprises me with said revelations, which is difficult to do. Cramer is the perfect narrator for this one, her voice is soothing and so easy to listen to. I know many people say that their mind wanders anytime they try and listen to an audiobook and my attention never strayed throughout this for a minute. Between Marsons riveting story and Cramer’s fluid voice I was utterly absorbed. It doesn’t hurt that I could listen to an English accent all day long either, but seriously read this book. Even better, listen to this book, I don’t think you’ll regret it.

Kim Stone is back as fierce as ever
I'm so glad there was another Kim Stone book!
This was a great read/listen. The audiobook was well done with an excellent narration by Jan Cramer.
Kim and her team are left an abandoned baby in the midst of the murder(s) of "sex workers" and a man found broken and dead. How these all come together - throw in some white slavers - form the basis of another good story by Angela Marsons. My only regret is that now I have to wait for Book 8.

Dreadful narration
I've managed, just, to listen to a few chapters but the narrator is , in my opinion, awful - surely the author isn't happy to hear her books narrated so badly?
This is the first in the series that I have tried to listen to - the rest I have read - and I am very disappointed with my purchase, does nobody check these Audible books for quality?
This narrator seems to be totally unable to imitate accents consistently or to vary tone or inflection so the characters all sound exactly the same.
Looking forward to reading it since the author is a favourite and I'll have no hesitation giving the book five stars.

From the first sentence this book had me hooked. I have loved each one of the Kim Stone books and this one must be one of the best. Every time I read a Kim Stone book I think it is the best I've read so far. They have everything you could wish for and Angela Marsons is such a good writer she does not have to fill chapters with unnecessary sex and violence as so many books have today. I can't recommend this book enough

Absolutely Brilliant
Kim Stone & team get stronger in each book. Book 7 is the best so far. Written & Narrated so well. On to book 8.

Loved it
Another brilliant listen. I love how there was once again reference to Kim's past. As always Jan did a great job narrating this book.
