An MC President and his enemy’s son make for an explosive combination....

Blade has a motorcycle club to run, and he doesn’t need a turf war on his hands. When a beautiful young man with haunted eyes walks into his bar, Blade’s protective instincts roar to the surface. The kid clearly isn’t made for MC life, but once Blade has had a taste, he can’t let go.

All MCs can burn in hell, as far as Logan is concerned. He’s seen the way his father runs his club, and he wants nothing to do with the life. But infiltrating Hell’s Ankhor is his one chance at escape, and now he’s in the crosshairs of the sexy as sin, President Blade. How can Logan resist the strong, protective man when he’s everything he’s ever wanted in a partner?

But Blade is still a big rough biker who will do anything to protect his club. What will he do when he finds out who Logan truly is? And how much destruction will Logan’s father cause when he finds his son in bed with the enemy?

Great story but average narration

I really enjoyed the story and will continue with the rest of series based on that alone but the narration was average for this book. Thankfully the next book is performed by someone else.

Great start to a series!

I really enjoyed this book, the authors did an amazing job of pulling me into the world of the Hell’s Ankhor MC from the first chapter. The main characters are fantastic and beautifully developed, but the two have a huge hurdle to overcome as they fall in love as Blade is president of the Ankhors whilst Logan is the son of the president of the rival club. This book also introduces other members of the Ankhors and I’m really looking forward to hearing their stories as the series continues

Action packed!

I absolutely adore this series.
I was excited to listen to book 1 and it definitely didn't dissapoint.

The storyline was engaging, action packed and compelling.

The narration was okay. It took me a while to get into it though.

Overall an enjoyable listen.

A Good Forbidden Love Story w/Disappointing Audio

Finding a temporary safe haven with Hell's Ankhor and in Blade's arms, Logan is wracked with guilt and fear that his identity as the son of the vicious rival motorcycle club's president will be discovered. Hell's Ankhor President Blade knows Logan's hiding something, which only heightens his protective instincts, but he can't deny the intense mutual attraction and deep feelings growing between them. It's a steamy and angsty forbidden-ish romance with threats of danger - physical and emotional - and is an intriguing start to this series.

Narrator Drew Morrison does a decent job here, with a good variety of character voices, but this audio book needed tighter editing. Numerous odd pronunciations and misspoken words, long pauses, and phrase repeats were distracting and, honestly, detracted from an otherwise good story. I received this free review copy audio book by request and have left this honest review voluntarily.

Sexy biker series

I've listened to this series out of order, so I was happy to go back and get Blade and Logan's back story. The story sets up the Hell's Ankhor club well and you get to know the main members. There is a little too much build up to the big reveal of Logan's identity, but the end is satisfying. The narration was not great. The narrator had a nice voice but he wasn't good at differentiating the characters and he mispronounced so many words, repeatedly. I'm glad he doesn't narrate the rest of the series. The narrators for the other books are much better.

Very good book. I was hooked. I little bit of problem with some parts of the narration because there was a lot of pauses and they thought my tablet wasn't working correctly then it's picked up again. But other than that it was really good he did a good job at narrating the story. Can't wait to see what's next in line for the stories

a great story that Seriously needs editing

This was very difficult to rate, because I absolutely love the story and his voice was wonderful, but there were so many issues with the recording that it threw me out of the story which made it very difficult to enjoy. I ended up finishing the book reading it because I got really frustrated. The first issue I noticed was that he pauses between every sentence for maybe a second or two. This doesn't sound like a big deal, but it's not how people really talk and sounds a lot longer when you're waiting for the next sentence. This was incredibly frustrating, but I counteracted it by speeding up the book to 1.35. This was fine, not ideal, but I have enjoyed other audiobooks with the same problem this way just fine. If this was the only issue I would have rated it better, unfortunately there were plenty of other problems. Next was that occasionally he would stop and repeat a sentence, going back when he didn't like the way something sounded or messed up. This is normal when recording, but should be edited out before selling it as a finished product. I mean one or two times in the whole book isn't a big deal, and even some of my favorite narrators miss something occasionally, but I only got halfway through the book and he had already done it five times which seemed a little excessive. Then there were the mispronounced or altogether incorrect words or names. You know by context clues what he's supposed to be saying, and if you follow along in the book (The way I like to do if I have the time) You know he was supposed to be saying another name or a completely different word. This was just irritating because it threw me for a second making me puzzle out exactly what was supposed to be said versus what actually was said. It can be especially jarring when there's two sides of a debate and the wrong person speaks what's supposed to be a point for the other side if that makes sense. The final straw was him swallowing in the background. It's one of those sounds for me (kind of like chewing or smacking gum) that kind of turns my stomach. It wasn't subtle And after the 10th time he did it, I was done. I would be willing to give this audiobook another try and rate it better if someone goes back and edits these problems because it really is a great book and I really do like his voice, but I listen for pleasure, and so when it's more frustrating then enjoyable I'm not going to force myself to listen.

The Story was nice

I received an ARC of this audio for my honest review. I enjoyed the story but the narrator needs to stop the recording to take drinks or whatever he was doing that made annoying sounds or large gaps of nothing but air. It made it really hard to keep listening but I wanted to hear the story so I dealt with the annoyances.

First in Hell’s Ankhor Series- MM romance

I've listened to this series out of order, so I was happy to go back and get Blade and Logan's story. The story begins the story of the Hell's Ankhor club and describes the president Blade as a hit-first-ask-questions-later kind of guy. He stumbles upon Logan, who hides who he actually is (son of rival MC president) in order to receive protection Blade offers. This story is good and you see more of these characters in later parts of the series. The narrator was okay but he mispronounced some words that are pivotal to the story it became distracting. He does not narrate the rest of the series.I recommend this series to anyone who likes MM romance. I received this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

Blade and Logan's Love Story

This is the first book of the 'Hell's Ankhor' series, but the eighth to be released as an audiobook. I've listened to much of the subsequent series prior to this one and come back to hear Blade and Logan's beginnings. Hell's Ankhor MC president Blade has his hands full with holding club turf in the wake of rival club, Viper's Nest, attempting to assert their criminal influence in Elkin Lake. He meets Logan, a stranded motorist fleeing his father, the Viper's Nest MC president, Crave. Logan, afraid to reveal his true identity for fear of retaliation, is nonetheless in need of the protection the club can offer. Blade's caring nature draws the two men together. Will love overcome the secrets and 'club justice'?

Lyda and Bates deliver a solid base on which all the other books build. There's action, suspense and violence when dealing strictly with 'club business'. This contrasts nicely with the sweetly caring relationship that develops between Logan and Blade. While Blade is a little hit-first-and-ask-questions-later, there is no doubt that his actions come from a place of deeply felt protectiveness of those he considers family. The interactions between the two men are well-written and surprisingly free of what could have turned into overwrought angst. The authors deliver a nicely balanced introduction to the men of Hell's Ankhor MC.

Andrew Morrison's narration is performed fairly well. I can't give an honest opinion without stating that I noticed numerous mis-pronunciations. One word, the Hell's Ankhor bar Ballast, sticks out in particular, as the word is used many times in this book.

I received this audiobook for free and at my request as a review copy. This is my voluntary opinion of it.

Recommended.

Worth the wait

Aiden Bates and Ali Lyda did a great job with the start of the series, even though we had to wait for the audio version. Was a great ride with Logan and Blade. Happy that although it is a long series every book has its own story and not a repetition of the previous. Andrew Morris did a nice job with the narration. Now to pickup the series where I left off.

Intense

A really good story with dynamic characters and a great sense of family. Everything's laid out for you to meet, love, and enjoy the characters and biker family. A unique family of misfit bikers and this story follows the new leader Blade as he battles with leading, loss, and a surprise love.

Poor Logan, my goodness what a tortured life at the hands of his father. Evil and discussing man, I really wish there was more closure on that part of the story but I get the feeling the fight with the Viper's is going to be an overarching storyline for the series.

Logan and Blade are perfect for each other and I loved seeing their connection blossomed and grow. There were a few miscommunication moments but I actually liked how these were done!

I love this family and can't wait for Gunner and Raven's story up next.

I listened to the audiobook of this one and while the narrator has a great voice their "narration" felt very "read" and didn't really flow like I'm used to. There were also some weird pauses and a few minor discrepancies when listened to with the eBook.

Excellent book but skip the audio

Finally the audio for Book 1, the book that kicked off this great series. Blade and Logan's romance is totally engrossing with the whole rivals to lovers dynamic. Lots of grit and steam but at the same time found family and all the heartwarming feelings that go with it. This story definitely will keep you on the edge of your seat. It’s one of my favorites in the series. That being said, I was a disappointed in the audio. I don’t think this was the right narrator pick, particularly not for a story that has a lot of action and dynamics like this one. His pacing was too slow, and there was too much stopping and starting in the wrong places. Overall, I found the audio to be distracting rather than an enhancement to the story.

Definitely worth listening to

This book had me hooked from the first few minutes, the storyline was well paced and the introduction to the main characters was really good. I loved the progression of their relationship it wasn’t automatically easy and carefree. They had to work at it and I found that really enjoyable. Can’t wait to listen to others in the series as this was so good

Amazing story, not a fan of the narration

Though I wasn't a fan of this narrator, Blade and Logan's romance was captivating enough to keep me listening. I've always loved motorcycle club stories, and the concept of Blade and Logan being from rival MCs gave this story an almost Romeo and Juliet feel. With plenty of gritty action and steamy moments, these men kept my heart racing as I listened to them fall in love. For a bunch of bikers, Blade's club felt as warm and welcoming as any close-knit group of friends. I loved seeing the members embrace Logan despite his caginess and general lack of trust. As Logan stuck around in Elkin Lake day after day, it warmed my heart to see his walls start to come down as he softened around Blade and the club. When trouble came searching for Logan, as I knew it would, I was both terrified and desperately hopeful that love would win out over secrets and misdirection. Things were pretty dicey for a while, but Blade and Logan proved that what they built together was stronger than any outside interference.

As much as I loved the story, I wasn't a fan of this narrator's style. His pacing was too slow for my liking, which I tried to fix by reading at 1.4x speed, but that only accentuated the way he kept pausing between every third or fourth word. As I got invested in the storyline it was easier for me to ignore the speech patterns, but I kept getting pulled out of the story by awkward pauses, mispronounced words, and repeated phrases.

Blade 💪🏼

Blade is the new young President of Hell’s Anchor MC and one night Logan falls on his lap. Blade is a good guy, strong and an awesome leader. Logan starts as weak though he is anything but. The story has lots of action, a bit of violence and sexy romance. I love the narrator’s voice but there are some errors on the audio. It was distracting. Overall, I throughly enjoyed the story.

Finally!

The audio for Blade, the first book in the Hell's Anchor series has finally arrived. It took a loong time, but it was so worth the wait. The weight of the emotion, especially in the scenes involving Logan, Luke, and Crave, is phenomenal and heart-breaking, and then when Blade discovers the truth...it just blew me away. I loved the book, but Drew Morrison's delivery of those scenes is incredible. Unfortunately, the rest of the audio has some issues, wrong words, mispronounced words, repeated sentences, and long silences between chapters. It's annoying, but the audiobook is still worth the listen for those heart-wrenching scenes. This is a great start to a fantastic series, with memorable characters, rival motorcycle clubs, angst, flawed and wounded heroes, and one of the vilest villains you'll ever hear about. Crave is a Viper indeed. A warning that there are some scenes of violence, including a brutal beating of one of the MCs, but all the good guys make it out okay.

My intro to my favorite MC series

The son of a cruel, abusive president of the Vipers motorcycle club, Logan flees toward a new life. His car breaks down in the territory of the Hell's Ankhor motorcycle club and the attraction between him and their president Blade is immediate. The relationship develops as Logan saves the life a Blade and another member of the club but Logan cannot bring himself to tell Blade his true identity. The Vipers are trying to invade Ankhor territory by selling deadly, adulterated drugs. This story is a three strand rope that will tie you up in it until you finish and strain your nerves to the breaking point - Blade and Logan are clearly in love, Blade and his club rightfully hate the evil Vipers and want them out of their territory for good and Logan can't figure out how to tell Blade his true identity without losing everything he has come to love. How it all comes to a smashing conclusion makes for a very satisfying ending. I cannot wait to read the stories of other members of the Hell's Ankhor club and see Blade and Logan make appearances there. Some violence, obviously, but not overdone or gruesome if that isn't your thing. This was my intro to both this series and the world of m/m MC stories and it remains my favorite series in the genre. It was glorious to hear Andrew Morrison bring the characters I love so much to life. Her performance was exactly how I hoped these guys would sound and it drew me in immediately just like the book did.

At Last!

At Last Blade, Book One of Hell’s Ankhor is available! For some reason it has taken until book 8, Joker came out for it to also be released. As they can all be read as stand alone’s it didn’t detract too much from the overall story line but as it was the first book it was rather annoying.
Blade and Logan’s story is just as great as all the others but there are some editing issues particularly early on.
