Publisher's Summary

Was it wrong to tell Beau’s mother he’s my boyfriend? Yes. Would I do it again? In a heartbeat.

The smokin’-hot fireman isn’t exactly in the closet, but he’s been keeping things quiet for years. I don’t do quiet.

All the guys in Hell’s Ankhor know I have to be true to myself. That’s why they call me Tru.

Beau and I are nothing alike. Doesn’t matter. The attraction between me and the fire chief is hot enough to burn.

But there’s danger in town, too much for us to get hung up on each other.

Yeah, too late for that.

Do I want to kill Tru for lying to my mom? A little. But the look on her face was worth the fallout.

The easy-going biker is nothing like me. He’s impulsive. Brash. Happy.

I’ve never dated another guy before, and I should probably walk away.

Too bad I can’t.

When we get wrapped up in an arsonist’s plot, I have to wonder if Tru wants me or an open flame.

My doubts are nearly enough to smother any ember of love, but I need to be stronger than that. Can we still make things work after all the flames are doused?

Tru has bad boys, bikers, and a fire chief finally ready to step all the way out of the closet and into the arms of his not-so-fake boyfriend.

Sizzling chemistry!

These two have that spark and hot as anything chemistry. An interesting divergence from the club focus. This story, while focusing on Tru and Beau is more about Beau and his role as Fire Chief than any inner workings of the club. These two have amazing chemistry and Tru is a great character, so open and sure of himself where Beau is almost opposite and a little closed off and unsure. one thing that did bother me is there are quite a few unrealistic inconsistencies; someone's concuste and almost died in a fire then is fine for sexy times in a few hours, yeah nope. There were a few little moments like this but overall a good story and couple to add to the Hell's Anchor family.

A steamy, angsty opposites attract!

This is the 7th book in a truly amazing series!
I Loved Tru and Beau's story.
This was one steamy opposites attract with medium angst and all the feels.
If you love this series be sure to pick this one up.
It's a bit angstier than what I predicted going into it but no less engaging!!

This series is the best!

I love this book and the narrator is just fabulous! When fake becomes real it turns everything around and makes it the best type of book! This is a wonderful series I can not explain how much I love it!

Great 7th book in the MM romance series

This was a great 7th story in the MM romance series. This was a fake it until you make it type of romance where Beau and Tru portray a fake relationship until it actually becomes real. Although it started off light hearted and and little angsty, it ended up with a serious subplot and was heavier than expected, which was a happy surprise. The narration by David Allen Vargo was fantastic!

Tru and Beau's Opposites-Attract Romance

After reading 4 previous books in the 'Hell's Ankhor' series, I feel invested in the over-arcing themes, but I think someone who wants to read this book cold should be able to enjoy it as a standalone. Liberty Crew MC member Tru is balancing the merge of his old MC with the Hell's Ankhor MC, his job as a martial arts instructor at a local gym and the romantically reluctant Beau, fire chief at the station in town.

Of the books so far in this series, this one skews to the lighter side. There's no Club business to interfere with the budding relationship. Things start out in a perfect bubble, but it doesn't take long for cracks to appear. Beau lets old fears and stress over a serial arsonist cloud his perception of Tru. Will these guys work to stay together and have a happy ending?

Aiden Bates and Ali Lyda do a great job at keeping any angst low-key and short-lived. The way they weave in not only characters from Liberty Crew and Hell's Ankhor, but also from the fire station makes for a more well-rounded story. The readers are introduced to the main characters' grandmothers to nice effect too. Lyda and Bates have become one-click authors for me at this point.

David Allen Vargo's naraation is great. He adds the perfect amount of emotion into his performance.

This audiobook was given to me as a review copy after I made a request for it. I have subsequently written this voluntary opinion of 'Tru'.

Recommened.

Steamy, engaging, heartfelt story

Steamy, engaging, heartfelt story with action and a search for a deadly arsonist.  The narrator did a good job with the two main characters and gave them character and life.

I enjoyed the characters in this story and found them both likable and interesting.  It was also the struggle of a man, Beau, learning to make decisions that were good for him and to find love even when his family didn't approve.  Beau's mother was a real controlling and destructive person.  I really loved the 'grandmothers' and how incredibly fun and wise they were.

My favorite character was Tru.  He was interesting, had layers and had such a big heart.  I was so glad that he had his best friend and brothers to support him through some difficult times and to enjoy the good times too.

This is book 7 of the Hell's Ankhor series and can be read as a stand-alone, however i do recommend reading in sequence because the characters are all interrelated to a group of men in a motorcycle club.

Sweet and steamy!

Oh this is definitely a sweet steamy hot audiobook! Tru and Beau are just absolutely incredible together, although I did want to smack Beau a couple times. It may have started out as a fake date to a wedding but with the delicious hot chemistry surging between them...well it wasn’t fake for long! I really enjoyed the added humor woven into the storyline! I thought narrator David Allen Vargo as always did a fantastic job with the characters voices and theatrics bringing the story to life!

Fake date to everything

The story dealt with far heavier issues than I expected from the blurb, but it was largely well done. I did find the identity of the arsonist as well as the big “fight” and subsequent events to be easily predicted from early on though, which was a bit of a disappointment to me. I enjoyed Tru’s character and how well he followed the flow. Beau was just too neurotic for me and too easily influenced, despite his stubbornness. The narration was excellent and the various voices added depth to the story.

Nice Addition to the Series

Slow and sweet, with some difficulties. The narrator made this much more enjoyable then reading it. It seemed like a different story from what I read.

Steamy & Fairly Angsty Romance w/Stellar Narration

"Tru" is only the second Hell's Ankhor series audio book I've listened to and with both I've become a fan of narrator David Allen Vargo. His narration really is a performance, and a terrific one at that. The deep, gravely quality to his voice is pitch-perfect for Beau, as is his lighthearted, playful delivery for Tru, and his variety of distinct voices including for the female characters is impressive.

Tru and Beau are such well-developed and imperfect characters, and the tentative unfolding of their steamy fake-turned-real relationship is both intense and slow-burning and felt natural. Their HEA is worth the emotional angst (courtesy of Beau with his trust and family issues because Tru is a sweetheart!) it takes to get there. This was a heavier story than I'd expected given its lighthearted beginning, but I appreciated how the arsonist subplot was actually crucial to the overall storyline. I received this free review copy audio book by request and have left this honest review voluntarily.

A bit of a lighter continuation

This one had a bit of a lighter feel to it, though it deal with some heavier issues. It was a bit of a slower sweeter story and I really like how the groups were brought together and very much enjoyed the narration. All around a great listen.

Another Entertaining Listen

I was really looking forward to this audiobook. Aiden Bates likes to tease us a bit, at the end of his books. I was all about this pairing, and the fact that it was going to be explosive...in many ways. 🏍 👨🏼‍🤝‍👨🏻 🔥

I loved the banter between Beau and Tru. It amped up the UST tenfold. Those scenes were just fun to read. Is it surprising when fake turns to real? No. Is it still enjoyable to listen to? Heck yeah. These men had some chemistry; that is for sure. 🏍 👨🏼‍🤝‍👨🏻 🔥

It’s always great to see the side characters in the story. I enjoy that there’s an underlying storyline that continues through to the next book, or continued from the previous book, as well as the love story of our main characters. It’s hard to say goodbye to characters we fall in love with, and this way we don’t. 🏍 👨🏼‍🤝‍👨🏻 🔥

David Allen Vargo does a great job with the many different voices he created for the characters. He really brought the story to life, and I enjoyed listening to it. 🏍 👨🏼‍🤝‍👨🏻 🔥

Sweet, sexy, and surprisingly suspenseful

For a story that started off so fun and lighthearted, it sure did get scary towards the end. I was expecting the main storyline to be about how Tru and Beau's fake relationship turned into something real, but this book was so much more than that. Sure, the fake boyfriends situation was a big deal in the first few chapters, but where Tru and Beau really won me over was in the aftermath. These men were so much softer and sweeter than I'd anticipated, and I loved watching them carve out time for each other despite their busy schedules. Tru and Beau had insanely hot chemistry, and even though they didn't have much time together, the time they did get was spent thoroughly exploring each other's bodies. When the action picked up and things started to get strained between Beau and Tru, I have to admit that I was firmly on Tru's side. I find it harder to relate to guys who refuse to communicate openly, and Beau definitely fell into that trap over and over again. As the situation with the mysterious arsonist escalated, I was equal parts captivated and terrified to see just how bad the fires would get. These authors nailed the pacing of this storyline, giving me next to no clues about who the arsonist was until the climax of the story. Despite several minutes of increasing panic, this story did, thankfully, come to a satisfying conclusion. Beau and Tru's reconcilliation was everything I'd been waiting for, and their sweet love-making soothed any tension remaining between them. David Allen Vargo provided excellent narration to bring these men to life, and I love how each character had their own unique voice that expressed their personality.

Not running out of steam yet ...

We’re up to number 7 now in this series and I started to wonder if it would begin to run out of steam. Well, not yet it seems because this story of Tru and Beau is another good one. They have great chemistry and their relationship develops as part of an intriguing arsonist story line. This is a well written story with complex characters, a compelling story arc, and some really good romance (not the light and fluffy kind) threaded through it all.

In terms of narration, David Allen Vargo gives a solid performance. His voice fits with the tenor of the book and the series because it has a richness and depth to it that is the appropriate counterpoint to the characters and the story. He created two distinct voices and consistently delivered them. His diction is excellent and he is able to impart the right emotion behind the words, although at times, the delivery seemed a bit overdone, like he was trying too hard. Overall, though, I recommend this book and the series.

Dramatic and fun

This story was exciting and adventurous, filled with spicy ness, love, and drama!

The narration was good, there wasn’t a whole lot of variety in the voices from man to man. And I felt like there was some spacing issues at times but over all it was pretty good. The words were clear, the dialogue expressive, and overall it was a solid piece.

Great story

This was the first Hell’s Ankhor book that I didn’t read the book before listening to the audio. I really enjoyed the story and liked the relationship between Tru and Beau. I thought they were both likable. I liked the pace of narration and David Allen Vargo’s voice. I liked that he changed voices and it was all so nice to listen to. I would recommend this story.

Tru Love ❤️

In this book we see Tru, from the Liberty Crew, who have recently patched into Hell’s Anchor MC, set his sights on Beau, fire chief of Elkin Lake North after they met when Dante’s bakery was set on fire in the last book.
Another great addition to the series. I have to say I am really enjoying the whole series and can’t wait for Jokers story.
David Allen Vargo is doing a great job narrating these macho, alpha and maybe not so alpha characters.

How does a relationship with total honesty work?

I wouldn't want a boyfriend like Tru, he's a bit too open and honest for me, lol but he is exactly what Beau needs to finally face facts, come out of the closet and have the life and relationship he was meant to have. It took me a bit to warm up to these guys, but I really came to enjoy their relationship arc. The arsonist plot was well done and I found it quite suspenseful. This series has done an excellent job of integrating crimes of various sorts into the m/m romances. David Allen Vargo is doing an amazing job with these characters. He catches all the emotional nuances, the yin/yang of tough biker/softness and keeps each character's voice and personality easily identifiable.

The best in the series so far!

I was waiting for this audiobook to release, because I enjoyed so much the written version. In this series you usually found a sweet (and hot of course) romance in between a very interesting and complex plot, as is normal with any book written by Aiden Bates and Ali Lyda so this one is not exception, but this book is one of the best in the series and the most interesting so far. Beau and Tru story has a lot of little details that made it so good including a mystery, intrigue and a crime to solve in between confronting misunderstandings, accusations, and mistrust while discovering feelings and a possible future together, all in a fluid and easy to follow plotline in spite the complexities. Now, this version in audio has a very nice addition in the voice of Mr Vargo. I'd met him reading previous books on this series and, as always, I enjoyed a lot his and energetic voice, his performance, and the way he managed all the characterizations. A great addition to the series and my favorite so far!

Truly excelent

Super addition to the series by Aiden Bates & Ali Lyda. Tru was such a fantastic character to get to know. David Allen Vargo did a brilliant job with the narration. Now onto the next member to find a HEA.
