Publisher's Summary

Bad day? Try mine on for size.

Rogue slavers have landed on the ice planet and captured the tribe. The only ones not snatched? Me, a walking human motormouth with no skill except that of incoherent babbling, and Warrek, who's as silent as he is attractive. Two more unlikely people have never been paired together.

And now we're supposed to form a rescue team.

Saving the others is either going to bring us closer together - or drive us completely apart. I'm pretty sure the feelings I'm having for my alien companion are as unrequited as they are inappropriate, but since we aren't going to make it out alive, what harm is one teeny, tiny kiss?

Who knew that one kiss could change everything?

Contains mature themes.

Romance & Action

I love the whole series! Fantastic world building that describes how stranded modern women integrate into a tribal culture of tall, hot, and build, matter of fact aliens - all wrapped up with a steamy sexy sweet romance. The characters are all unique throughout the whole series. Some books have more action then others, which focus more on tribal life and personal struggles. I can't even pick one book as my favourite - I'm afraid you'll have to read them all including the spin off series 'Ice Home'. Fantastic male/ female narrators for the audiobook version too.

Action packed.

This is book 14 in the ICE PLANET BARBARIAN SERIES and while each story stands alone, I recommend they be read in order. Slavers disembark from a spaceship and capture beloved members of the Sa-Khui tribe including children and human women. I loved that quiet Warrek and motor-mouth Summer had to join forces and find a way to rescue their tribes-people. I pictured them as if in an action film, plotting and executing their rescue mission. This part of the novel was excellent. I loved every minute, not because of the action, which was exciting, but because it ignited a camaraderie between Summer and Warrek and highlighted their individual skills and strengths. They faced deadly danger, risked their own lives and those of their tribe. I enjoyed reading about the mutual respect they gained during the adrenaline-pumping rescue mission. I totally get that a successful mission would lead to a charged sexual tension and the need for release. But I feel there was too much sex in this novel. I know I’ll be in the minority about that. I can handle sex scenes, but it was too often for me here. However, this is a minor complaint in an overall solid romance in a primitive environment. On the whole, this is a fun novel, with serious elements thrown in about the future of the Sa-Khui tribe. I’m excited by the cargo in the slaver spacecraft and as I’ve read ahead, I know the laughter, fun and excellent story-lines continue. I am loving this series. It has been a welcome and unexpected boost to my romance listening enjoyment. Not a dull moment. Where to next? Audible narrators Hollie Jackson and Mason Lloyd do a wonderful job bringing the characters to life. I recommend this series.

Ok as usual, wished for more

3.5 Blue Roses 3.5 Blue Flames Narrators Hollie Jackson and Mason Lloyd gave a another enjoyable performance. This duo is works exceptionally well with Ruby Dixon’s Barbarian Ice Planet characters. Mason’s unique voice, his pronunciation and delivery of the male alien voices are burned into my imagination how sexy aliens should sound all the time. This plot started out funny and exciting, but it soon fell flat for some reason. Maybe its the scene where this time the female started out with a sexy and playful abduction and rope tying. Suddenly its cut short and the ending just rushed too fast for me. I do recommend this audiobook as it was still very much entertaining as most of Ruby Dixon’s books are. Happy Listening

New challenge and matings

Mardok’s former ship, The Tranquil Lady, returns unexpectedly, but instead of his crewmembers, there are alien slavers onboard. Summer and Warrek were in the fruit cave when their tribe members were captured at the Cave of the Ancestors, so it’s up to them to mount a rescue. The group decides to travel back to the village to ask the chief before opening the 20 cryogenically frozen humans and aliens they find on board. Summer and Warrek have grown closer during this trial and find that they are a perfect fit for each other. Interesting plot development that keeps the series fresh. This is definitely one of the top 5 alien male/human female series. Jackson & Lloyd do a great job. They are the voices for the series. 4 stars = it’s great per Audible 5 stars = I love it

Sweet

This was a cute story. Well, other than the kidnapping and the killing. But the love story was sweet. Smart, talkative Asian girl with the strong silent male who loved listening to every word she said.

Warrick and Summer take on slavers

At 50% off, I’m okay with having bought this book, but it falls in the fair to middling category. This is Warrick and Summer’s story. I was looking forward to strong silent Warrick’s story, but instead he felt like Eeyore the donkey: a lumbering downer with a monotone inner and outer dialogue. And Summer’s crying and babbling was annoying and didn’t fit with her suddenly becoming the brains and strategic thinker of the rescue campaign. This book in the series was a bundle of contradictions. The series is campy fun and concerns big blue demon-looking aliens with hearts of golds. Yet in this book, one gentle giant, Warrick (the gentlest, quietest of them all), teams up with crying, blabbermouth to go Rambo when a ship of alien slavers lands and kidnaps their tribe mates. The combat descriptions are abrupt and sanitary to the point of losing all real gravitas. It never felt like there was any true threat. Instead, it felt like an absurd collection of plot devices. Summer distracts/defeats the bad aliens by blabbering about wanting to be a good slave/entertainer?! Summer is traumatized by the thought of being the last remaining couple, yet has sexy thoughts about having Warrick all to herself on the planet?! Warrick is an old (50 something) hunter, yet he looks to Summer to figure out slaver-hunting and trapping strategy?! The plot in the first half of this book is dark, yet the slapstick and wisecracks abound. The usual IPB chemistry just wasn’t here. Given that the slaver ship was the ship Mardok used to fly on, it would have made more sense to have some chapters from his perspective... or from the perspective of those taken hostage. But, perhaps dedication to a well written story wasn’t the point. In this book more than any other it seemed like the author was rushing through a rough plot outline just to get to the end goal: figuring out another way to get more human females to the planet, so that more books can be written for more money. I mean really, how many more females will keep landing on this obscure ice planet? The slavers vs. blue barbarians lasted only two hours... with the remaining 3+ hours setting up future stories and getting Warrick and Summer together in lackluster fashion. For endless stories of human-alien pairings, I will happily continue to buy things when the 50% off sales hit. But, I cannot see paying more than a $1 per audio hour for this sexy fluff.

I been waiting for this audible for a long time Summer and Warrek are one of my favorite couples. The plot is really good, not one boring moment. Recommended.
