田舎の人は基本的に親切ですが、時間感覚や距離感がややのんびりしすぎに感じることがあります。知らない土地で迷子になり、訊ねた人から目的地が「すぐそこ」との返事をもらえれば嬉しいもの。主人公も山道で迷子になり、そんな田舎の人の親切心に救われるはずでしたが…。
作者、小松左京（こまつさきょう、大阪生まれ、1931年 - 2011年）。日本を代表するＳＦ作家。1961年「地には平和を」でＳＦ作家としてデビュー。「日本沈没」「復活の日」など映画化された長編の名作や、「ゴルディアスの結び目」などの短編小説の名作も多数執筆している。又、1970年の大阪万博のテーマ館のサブ・プロデューサー、1990年の国際花と緑の博覧会の総合プロデューサーを務めるなど、その才能は多岐にわたりました。
