She’s scrappy and pure sunshine. He’s a 1,000-year-old vampire. Together they’re magic. Ever had life kick you in the teeth after it first stopped to shove you down the stairs? Yep. This used to be the story of my life. Until one day I saw an ad in the paper that changed everything—Wanted: Vampire’s Assistant. The list of qualifications that followed the listing for the job were ridiculous. Sturdiness? Not prone to fits of terror?

I’m a pixie. If there was a level zero of supernaturals, I’d be on the sub-basement level. I’m not super-strong or fast or crazy-smart, and the little bit of pixie magic I do have is limited to the most basic things that any human street magician can do. So when a pack of coyote shifters and their Alpha start hunting me and threatening the only remaining family I have left, I realize I’m going to need some paranormal help to fight them off. I do the only sane thing I can think to do. I flee to Moonhaven Cove and beg help from the local PNW council and the town’s sheriff.

I’m in love with my best friend—who just happens to be one of the last dragon shifters in the world. Yeah. Life just got a whole lot more complicated. For two years, I’ve suffered through one bad date after another, and for two years, my best friend Roarke has been right there beside me. The problem? I don’t want to date other guys—I want him. But there are two massive issues with that. I keep hoping that in true romcom style, Roarke and I will get our happily ever after. But this is real life, and I don’t know if there are happily ever afters for a broken bear shifter and a dragon shifter.
