Story
Welcome to Evermore Academy where the magic is dark, the immortals are beautiful, and being human sucks. My name is Summer Solstice and this is going to be my year. Except, in the Everwilde, nothing ever goes according to plan. When the Spring Court heir joins the academy, he traps me in a cutthroat game of bargains and deception in an effort to ruin Valerian. Worse, someone is using an army of darklings to gather magical items that could raise the Darken and change the fate of the Fae courts - and the human world - forever.

Imprisoned in the tower at the archduchess’s mercy, awaiting certain execution, I spend every moment thinking of ways to escape so I can find Riser and fulfill the promise to my father. War looms, my friends have abandoned me, and Nicolai refuses to help find the Mercurian.
Publisher's Summary
Welcome to Evermore Academy, where the magic is dark, the immortals are beautiful, and being human sucks.
After spending my entire life avoiding the creatures that murdered my parents, one stupid mistake binds me to them for four years.
My penance? Become a human shadow at the infamous Evermore Academy, finishing school for the Seelie and Unseelie fae courts.
All I want is to keep a low profile, but on day one, I make an enemy of the most powerful fae in the academy. The Winter Prince is arrogant, cruel, and apparently also my fae keeper. Meaning, I’m in for months of torture.
But it only gets worse. Something dark and terrible looms over the academy. Humans are dying, ancient vendettas are resurfacing, and the courts are more bloodthirsty than ever.
What can one mortal girl do in a world full of gorgeous monsters?
Fight back with everything I have, and try not to fall in love in the process.
If you love reading about fated mates, enemies-to-lovers, snarky heroines, and everything fae, then buy the audiobook and fall into this magical new series that's being called Vampire Academy meets The Cruel Prince!
P.S. This full-length story may leave you with a book hangover.
P.P.S. This upper YA/NA series will eventually be four books and is intended for mature audiences. It contains cursing and steamy situations.

***Fantastic listen***
To be honest the reasons by I bought this audiobook was because Vanessa Moyen narrates the story. She is an incredible narrator and I'm a huge fan. But I'm glad I did download it this book ends up being awesome that I couldn't put it down. There are some triggers like bullying and prejudiced but it's an awesome story. I can't wait for book 2

AMAZING
This was an amazing audiobook. I always love listening to Vanessa Moyen and this book was no different. She always adds this amazing kickass personality to a character that i never would have been able to replicate in my head before listening to her, especially in the fantasy novels she narrates for. This book does and doesn't end on a cliffhanger. By saying that I mean that there is no cliffhanger that happens in between a scene, however, the story does continue, and contains other semesters in the academy. I loved this book with its own interpretation of the world and an awesome twist with how the world changes. If you have read the blurb and think you will like this, then I would definitely recommend it to you. I hope you love reading/listening to it. Enjoy!

LOVED IT!!
I have read my far share of romance novels. I had just finished a few different werewolf series and decided they were becoming predicable. I am new to both Audrey GREY & fae books but let me tell you, I LOVED IT!! There was so many twists and turns, I really recommend reading these if you are considering trying something different. I have listened to both the first and second books in the series and CAN NOT wait for the third to be on audible. I am certainly going to try more of Audrey's other books. I would love for this to be a TV series, I would love to watch it!!
Also Vanessa is a great narrater, I really enjoyed listening to these books. I never write reviews this long so thats saying something.

The more I heard, the more I was enthralled
Vanessa Moyen delivers quality, when I see her name as (one of) the narrator(s), I just know I can follow along without difficulties. She makes it easy to follow who’s talking and such.
I love the storyline, the harshness of the Fae seems appropriate, I think that if you live this long, you’re bound to get less and less careful in your actions along the way and lose your softer, more nurturing traits since they stand out the least and repetition gets boring after a while so the more subtle things whither away first, I guess.
The way the Fae came into the ordinary world and them recruiting humans for their army and/or bodyguards (called Shadows) seems plausible since Darklings can only be killed by iron and well, since that kills Fae too they need to outsource the handling of all that iron.
And the whole human-turning-darkling thing feels very realistic too in a sense because of the contamination of the (dark) magic used in the war that caused the veil between those worlds to tear (or something like that) and thus more or less dropping the Fae into the ordinary world. With severe consequences; a part of the land became the Everwilde, the world of the fae (technically they’re called the Evermore), around that, on the border is the Tainted Zone, where the magic that lingers is more potent, creating a much higher risk for people to mutate into a darkling, which is not something you’re born with but a sudden change that can not be stopped, no matter your age. So the Tainted Zone is cut off from the rest of the world (and it’s resources), making it a very dystopian area where you need to scavenge, forage and steal to feed your family.
Everybody near the border of Everwilde knows to stay away from there because fae can be cruel. But one day, after a failed attempt to get some food for her family, Summer has no other option than to flee into the Everwilde, a decision that will have an immense impact on Summer’s life. Caught steeling apples, she is sentenced to attend the Evermore Academy, where humans learn to become Shadows, a sort of bodyguard and soldier for their fae master. And thus begins Summer’s 4 years of Evermore Academy.
I loved it (although a part of the ending wasn’t exactly a big surprise, there were many little hints in that direction but that did not diminish reading -or rather listening in my case- this lovely story) and I am waiting very patiently (🤥) for book 2: Evermore Academy: Spring to come out in audiobook so I get to know what happens next!

Winter is coming ...and you're gonna like it!
- No spoilers -
What a reveal that end was!! Everything hit the fan so fast! I mean you know part of it was coming based on clues sprinkled throughout the book, but dang, the carry though was flawless.
It has been SO long since I've read a book that kept me up all night. Yep. I'm writing this at 4:36 am because feelings. I love paranormal academy books, I just wasn't expecting the amount of swoon in this book. And oh boy does that cover make sense, but not in a way you'll guess. Muahaha.
You get to meet so many great characters. The girl power is strong in this book as everlasting friendships are created. But like obviously, what academy book would be complete without the drams? There's a female rival biotch. Don't you guys worry.
All I can say is, this book. PULLED me in head first. I first listened to the audiobook and then read the book right after. The audiobook narrator is great with emotions , but does make our main girl Summer sound much younger than she is. But that may just be my opinion. *Shrugs*
Regardless of which mode of storytelling you prefer, I highly recommend this for lovers of academy stories and broody mc broody pants romantic partners.

Even my husband got into it
It's not secret that I love Audrey's writing and am obsessed with all her books so I didn't believe this book could get any better...and then I heard it narrated by one of my favorites and suddenly my whole world is shook. Even my husband got right into it. He happened to be around for a couple hours of listening to part of it and was taking about it days later. We may have to organize times to listen to it together again so he can get the whole story 😂 He doesn't care for audiobooks (for shame!) so that's a huge recommendation.
For real, you have to listen to this and fall in love with this world as much as we did!

Absolutely drawn in by this story! It starts off a little slow but once it takes off,I didn't want it to end! I'm thankful the author did not leave us with a cliffhanger but I'm definitely anxiously awaiting the next installment to this story! This is by far my favorite Academy series!

Ruby is my spirit animal
I allowed myself to cast questions aside in favor of just enjoying the story which felt very much like a cross between Harry Potter and Vampire Academy. Teenagers will be able to related to the main character. However the premise is a little questionable considering the fairies appear to be much stronger in combat than their supposed guardians. There's a lot of questions left unanswered. It seems weird that modern weaponry hasn't been developed that's safe for supernatural beings to use. Also if the fairies have a weakness, it doesn't explain why humans haven't gone on a rampage to wipe them all out and reclaim their land... in America of all places. It's not a bad story but I didn't find anything particularly grabbing about it to keep my interest. The narrator isn't the best at conveying emotions. She seems nonchalant about intense moments and doesn't express anger where their should be. The voices she uses for different characters are fine.

Amazing!
Ok, Audrey Grey is becoming one of my absolute favorite authors! This book was a phenomenal listen! I loved how creative and unique the story was. It took an entirely different spin on an “academy” and was absolutely amazing. The characters were so rich and vibrant. I loved how cheeky the heroine was and her perspective on things that happened made her really relatable. I thought the way the story just flowed and twisted was perfect, and I had to complete it in a single sitting. I also appreciated the length. It wasn’t just a quick 5 hour listen, but had depth.

Best story I've listen to in FOREVER
Normally I don't like the enemies to lovers trope all too much because I think it promotes mentally and emotionally abusive relationships. But I absolutely adore fantasy which includes fae, mythology, and the like. So I gave it a chance. I was NOT disappointed at all! WP isn't even that bad of a guy! Not that his mindset is correct, but I rather enjoyed that Summer was totally in the wrong in their first encounter and disposed FAE more than HIM. I also really enjoyed Moyen's reading. The control over her voice is quite amazing and also very relaxing and calming as if I were being read to bed. I absolutely zoomed through this book within the week when it normally takes me months!! Just simply amazing work.

Good for a teen fae book
I enjoyed this. It wasn’t perfect, and there were some inconsistencies, and it dragged after the second half for a bit, and the heroine’s decision making made me think she was lucky to be alive. Despite all that, it was still engaging and I could fully imagine all the characters and settings so I felt like I was in the world. I’m probably too old for the book, but since it’s pitched as a teen/new adult book that makes sense so I haven’t marked it down for that.

I don’t review anything but this is 5 Stars
Wonderful story telling. Every character has a different voice. The story is soo gripping, from the action to the friendships to the romantic moments. I don’t normally like academy books but this has everything and so much more. Can’t wait to start the next book!!!
