Bubbles, a hairdresser/reporter/amateur sleuth, runs into trouble when supposed husband-killer Bonnie Weaver shows up on her doorstep. Before long Bubbles is up to her eyeliner in intrigue. She'll need all the help she can get from gorgeous beau Steve Stilletto and her wacky family to avoid ruining her makeup - permanently.

Armed with her trusty high heels and unflappable demeanor, Bubbles stumbles into trouble when she interviews Crazy Popeye, the chief suspect in a local murder. To her dismay, Popeye dies mid-interview, and everyone from a pesky police detective to a Polish mafioso wants to pick her brain. What's more, Bubbles' head is set spinning when long-time love interest Steve Stiletto asks her to pose as his fiancée to avoid a job transfer.
