A century later, living alone on a distant forest moon, feared and forsaken by the people he fought to save, Rose has grown bitter and resentful, while his superhuman body refuses to age.

Frustrated by his inability to act, Rose takes matters into his own hands, and travels to the occupied planet of Terra 6 to find his Master Operator, a key member of his crew, now at grave risk. But there is far more to the invasion that Rose has been led to believe. The Aterniens have a new bioweapon, and Terra 6 is their testing ground.

The incident at Terra 6 proved that the Aterniens could strike at the heart of the Union, but the god king has many more tricks up his sleeve. Aterniens imposters posing as humans are spread throughout the Union, causing chaos, and generating suspicion and fear. But as Rose tackles one crisis another appears. A weapon capable of eradicating the population of entire worlds has been unleashed, and it’s his job to stop it.

In the aftermath of Operation Serpent, Master Commander Carina Larsen must face the consequences of her actions. Relieved of duty and separated from the Longsword Ascalon and her crew, she awaits her fate when disaster strikes. The devious plan masterminded by the Aternien Serpent God, Apophis, is coming to fruition, and the remaining planets of the Union are thrown into chaos and disarray.

The Union is on the verge of total collapse.
