About this listen

Only Omega can free humanity.

When the Ornu came, they took Earth in a single night. Humanity never stood a chance. Now, they force us to crew their ships and fight their wars for them. They hold Earth hostage, and if we refuse to do their bidding, they’ll lay waste to our precious blue marble. Slaughtering the billions who live there.

But when Captain Bill Henderson is sent to claim a small moon for his masters, he finds something they never accounted for. An ancient warship – a behemoth abandoned for millennia by a species that reached its peak at the dawn of the universe.

Could this ship of ages be exactly what humanity needs to cast off the shackles of their oppressors? Find out in Book 1 of Starship Omega, an engrossing new military sci fi saga from bestselling authors Scott Bartlett and Joshua James.

I hate writing bad reviews, the author has worked hard and, if serious , puts a little of their soul into a novel. This book doesn't really capture any emotion in me barring frustration. unlikely events linked together by the unlikely reactions of thin characters, sorry but I just can't recommend.

clunky and frustrating

I really wanted to enjoy the story, it started well, but it to jump to conclusions as it went on. I tried to follow the direction the story was going but found it nonsensical and really reached in places.

I wanted to like the story...

The first couple of hours qas quite enjoyable but as i got to about half way through the story starts taking big leaps and some very odd turns that make it quite confusing and honestly makes me not want to finish it

its a premise that has a lot of promise, but the execution is just bad. theres are solution to a big problem... but then no.one thinks to adapt that for any other situation. Theres a hero who gets built up but then someone else (someone clearly wrong) gets chosen. key figures never die... then suddenly they're all dead. Everyone has corny nicknames which are used exclusively (to the point its a very bad joke) until someone dies and then they're suddenly someone with an ordinary name. Hero makes heroic stand under pressure then later refuses to make the exact same principled decision even though this time there is literally no gun to his head.

One of the weirdest things is, every single space story I've ever read/heard has the mechanism of travel (jumps, hyperspace, gateways etc) and communication across space as a major plot point. Space is vast and the speed of light is a major factor. How do these ships travel? No idea. What limits are there? No clue. Is FTL comms a thing? Never mentioned.

So while the premise is promising and the writing is clear, the way the plot develops is just too nonsensical to have credibility. The impossible is possible but the relatively easy is never considered.

Narrator is good though. Shame about the story.

story just doesn't make much

One dimensional and boring. I think it's a recasting of a religious take, but I couldn't finish it

great story! fantastic narrator! seriously the narrator does an amazing job. amazing characters and character development. I just didn't like the prequel parts after the main story. to be honest I skipped the listen because I didn't feel like going back before the story to hear about character backstories after the book had finished.
9/10

definitely worth a credit.
