Sally Parker is struggling to find the hero inside herself. All she wants to do is lie down. Her husband, Frank, has lost his business, their home and their savings in one fell swoop. Their bank cards are being declined. The children have gone feral. And now the bailiffs are at the door. What does an ordinary woman do when the bottom falls out? Sally Parker is about to surprise everybody. Most of all herself. Funny, warm, life-affirming and true, The Best Things is a big-hearted tale of failing, falling and finding a way back up.

Giedroyc grew up in Leatherhead and attended Trinity College, Cambridge, becoming a member of the Footlights comedy club. Starting her career alongside Sue Perkins, the duo became the household names of Mel and Sue, known for their baking puns as presenters of The Great British Bake Off, following their stint presenting Light Lunch.
Mel Giedroyc and Sue Perkins offer you more than your fair share of laughs, songs, and silliness in their imaginatively titled BBC Radio 4 series. Mel and Sue are extremely well established performers on the comedy circuit. They are also familiar as the hosts of Channel 4's Late Lunch and as the stars of a number of TV commercials. Sue Perkins was a member of the Celebrity Big Brother household in 2002.
