The world has fallen to a relentless enemy beyond reason or mercy. With no remorse they rend the planet with tooth and nail. One man stands against the scourge of death that consumes all. Survivors escape to an island stronghold: a cop and his daughter, a computer nerd, a garbage man with a piece of rebar, and an escapee from a mental hospital with a lifesaving secret. After reaching Alcatraz, the ever-expanding group of survivors realize that the infected are not the only threat.

Whether death arises from the legions of ravenous undead which now roam the planet, or at the hands of villains unchecked, the result is the same. The finality of death has fled, however, and the Reaper no longer holds his sway. The greatest plague in history alters life itself into something that cannot be, killing the infected, but only briefly. Victims return as one of the undead to seek out that which they once were, infecting and consuming anything alive.

The undead have claimed the world with tooth and nail and now death stalks from behind every corner and from every doorway. Beset by the horrors of this new planet, living humans must now rely on their most formidable weapon: Courage. Having traversed a ravaged and infected United States in the slim hope of acquiring a vaccine, a dwindling group of mix-matched military and civilians finally achieved their goal. Safely secured in a hardened and well-stocked underground complex, rescued scientists may now continue to work on a vaccine for the most brutal plague in human history.

Immunity. It means a lot to those without it. Sanctuary does too . . . Traveling across the country, an arrogant, rude, and ironically immune man's group runs from a government hell bent on stealing his immunity. With millions dead and some of the infected getting smarter, it's all-out war.
