Tam Hashford hat genug von ihrem langweiligen Dasein als Schankmaid in ihrem kleinen Dorf und von der fast schon erstickenden Fürsorge ihres alleinstehenden Vaters. Als eines Tages Fable, die Truppe der legendären »blutigen« Rose, im Dorf Station macht, ergreift Tam ihre Chance: Sie heuert bei Fable als Bardin an und geht mit ihren großen Idolen auf Tour. Noch hat Tam keine Ahnung, dass Rose auf einer hochriskanten Mission in den Norden ist.
