Bengtsson's hero, Red Orm-canny - courageous and above all lucky - is only a boy when he is abducted from his Danish home by the Vikings and made to take his place at the oars of their dragon-prowed ships. Vietnam, October 1966. ANZAC and US forces have secured Route 15 running through the heart of Phuc Tuy Province. Now at full strength the ANZAC 5th Battalion take the fight to the enemy in a grand, aggressive sweep. Vietnam, 1966. US and Australian forces are slowly taking back control of Phuc Tuy Province. Skirmishes and battles are fought every day but when a Viet Cong unit decimated an ARVN convoy is decimated near Bình Ba they are taught a valuable lesson. The enemy have supporters even this close to Saigon and they need to be rooted out.
