After arriving in an alternate timeline with the intention of getting his Party member, Vintrella, back from the Spirit Sentinel Faction, Bax disturbs a hornet’s nest of politics and power and he has no intention of getting involved. Unfortunately for him, the leadership behind the Faction who took Vintrella aren’t likely to let their captive go after what Bax did to one of their Elite Masters, and they hatch a plan to trap and kill the powerful Keeper once he travels to the Faction’s capital.

It is a symbiotic relationship that has lasted thousands of years and has brought about a measure of peace.

Larek Holsten is different from most people, living in the Kingdom of Androthe where his 7-foot-tall frame is looked at with suspicion and anger from its shorter residents; but as long as it helps him become the best Logger he can be, he doesn’t let it bother him all that much. He and his best friend, an axe with a powerful Fusion that causes it to become sharper and stronger than a normal tool, are feared by the trees in the magical forest north of his home, as he can fell the quickly growing monoliths faster than anyone else in the community.

After traveling across the entirety of the Sealance Empire and the deserts of Lowenthal, Larek has returned home to the Kingdom of Androthe to find that the situation is quite different from what he remembered. Not only are there massive Apertures called Calamities consuming large portions of the landscape, but most of his friends are also scattered to locations unknown around the Kingdom. Worse yet, they have no idea who he is because of the Dominion magic used on them before he was transported to the Empire.

Unfortunately for him, something occurred during his transference into the “Training” program, and he was ejected from the whole training process and sent into the open mouth of an active volcano for bodily disposal.

After freeing himself from the clutches of two treacherous Academy Instructors, Jeremy is stuck in a Rift with no way to easily escape. However, what he does have is an opportunity to improve himself by dispersing the energy inside the Cores within the Rift, finally applying permanent increases to his Abilities; he might even have the opportunity to permanently unlock the Fire Affinity, adding to his growing collection.

Not only is he alone and unsure of where exactly he is, but now he has to navigate the strange Sealance Empire, paying off his debt toward its people that he incurred just after arriving. However, if he can journey across its expanse, he can finally return to the Kingdom where his family and friends he left behind are located.

After discovering that his presence in Derelya has a detrimental effect on the ambient energy if he stays in one place for too long, Bax is determined to keep on the move.
