When I close my eyes and block out the horrors going on around me, and ignore the aches and pains on every inch of my body, I can still hear the cheers of the audience as I'm lifted into the air by my teammates. For those few brief moments, as I remember toppling from the top of the pyramid, I feel like I'm flying. I'm free and nothing can hurt me. But I'm wrong. How long will it take before they stop missing me, stop looking, before I am forgotten about? A month? A year? I'm no longer a person. I'm a commodity.

Die Wirtschaft wittert einen phänomenalen Markt. Die Wissenschaft weiß, warum der Sauerstoffgehalt zurückgeht: Die Bäume haben die Fotosynthese eingestellt. Aber keiner weiß, warum. Es existiert nur eine absurde Theorie: Die Bäume streiken.

Wer kennt sie nicht, den Zwerg Nase, den Kleinen Muck, den falschen Prinzen oder hat sich nicht schon beim "Gespensterschiff" gehörig gegruselt. Hauffs Märchen waren gedacht als "Märchen für Söhne und Töchter gebildeter Stände" und sind im Original eher für Erwachsene geschrieben als für Kinder, für die es heute viele sinnvoll und gemäßigt bearbeitete Fassungen gibt.

In einem sind sich die Literaturwissenschaftler bei Goethes "Faust" einig: Gott wettet nicht. Das hat er gar nicht nötig. Was aber wenn doch? Gähnende Langeweile treibt schließlich so manche merkwürdige Blüte. Was wäre also, wenn Gott auf den Wettstreit mit Mephisto ernsthaft einginge? Und was wäre, wenn Gott seine Wette verlöre?

Laura hat eine Sorge, und die betrifft ihren Königlichen Vater. Der hat nämlich nie Zeit für sie und muss ständig regieren. Zwar versucht er drei Mal so etwas wie ein Lachen zustande zu bringen, aber es will ihm nicht recht gelingen.
