Hoping to win the hand of lovely Cleone Charteris, Philip Jettan discovers that wealth and country manners are not enough. Cleone has been exposed to the gallantries of London society and finds Philip too blunt and boorish. His sophisticated father agrees and the frustrated young man departs for Paris and an education.

Mary Wollstonecraft Godwin was born on the 30th August 1797 in Somers Town, London. Her mother, the famous feminist philosopher, educator, and writer Mary Wollstonecraft died when Mary was only 11 days old and she was raised by her father. Her short stories, some based in Europe, tackle difficult situations and genres as well the obstacles that women were burdened with in society. Her editorship of her late husband’s poetry was also widely praised.

Guido has lost it all. At rock bottom and wandering the shore, Guido spies a misshapen creature floating toward him in the water, riding on a huge chest. The creature offers Guido a path of revenge – switching bodies for three days in exchange for the untold riches in the chest. Guido unfortunately fails to see a potential downside. Through skillful handling of the gothic motif of the doppelgänger, Shelley’s tale explores concepts that would eventually culminate into her masterpiece – Frankenstein.

Guido il Cortese is a young man who inherits a fortune from his father. He is about to marry Juliet, the daughter of one of his father’s friends. Before the wedding was to take place, Guido decided to travel to Paris, where he squandered away his family fortune. No longer able to marry Juliet, he is banished from his hometown of Genoa but he is determined to get his revenge. One day, he sees a strange creature floating to shore. The creature looks disgusting but it offers Guido a deal - wealth in exchange for Guido’s body.

La transformación, o metamorfosis, de Gregor Samsa en un bicho monstruoso, similar a un enorme escarabajo, es uno de los hitos de la literatura universal. Franz Kafka escribió el relato en 1915 y lo publicó por primera vez en la revista mensual Die Weissen Blätter. En noviembre de ese mismo año, el título se imprimió como libro independiente bajo el sello de la editorial Kurt Wolff, con fecha anticipada de 1916.
