Meses después de su último gran operativo, el inspector Bermejo deberá enfrentarse a una doble misión en Valencia: descubrir al causante de los misteriosos asesinatos de mujeres ocurridos en la región y acabar con una trama de corrupción en la que se ven involucrados algunos miembros de la Policía. Por su parte, tras una excedencia, el sargento Roncero regresa a España junto a la periodista Miriam Monfort y recibe el encargo de colaborar en una importante operación de la Guardia Civil contra el tráfico de personas en la zona levantina.
