He is a short story by American horror writer H. P. Lovecraft. Written August 1925, it was first published in Weird Tales, September 1926. Plot: The story's anonymous narrator has moved from New England to New York City, and greatly regrets it. One night, while wandering in a historic part of Greenwich Village, he happens upon a man dressed in garments from the 18th century. The man offers to show the narrator the secrets of the town.

Remember when you used to worry there was a monster in the basement that would chase you up the stairs? What if you were right all along? What if instead of killing you, the monster made you a strange offer that revealed a dark family secret?

I've written almost 30 novels, and about the same number of short stories over my career, and to give new listeners a glimpse of the gamut of my work in an inexpensive way, this book was brought into existence. Contained here are two short stories: All In and The Vampire of Menlo Park. Both are well placed in the horror genre, about devils, demons, inventors, and the undead.
