  • E03-S01 - Mapping and linking well-being, tourism economics, sustainable tourism and sustainable development: an integrative systematisation of the literature and bibliometric analysis
    Aug 14 2025

This 3rd episode of podNECE presents a systematic literature review and bibliometric analysis focused on the interconnections between sustainable tourism, well-being, sustainable development, and tourism economics. This review analyzes 223 selected academic papers, identifying three primary research clusters: sustainable tourism, tourism, and well-being. The study proposes a new taxonomy and holistic definition for sustainable tourism, emphasizing its balance of environmental protection, socio-cultural preservation, and economic development, aiming to enhance understanding and guide future research and policy in the sector. The findings underscore the growing academic interest in these topics, particularly since 2018, and offer practical implications for stakeholders to promote more responsible tourism practices that contribute to global sustainable development goals.

  • E02-S01 - Educational insights into digital entrepreneurship: the influence of personality and innovation attitudes
    Jul 31 2025

This 2nd episode of podNECE explores the connection between higher education students' personality traits and their inclination towards digital entrepreneurship, specifically in Portugal. The study examines how "Big-Five" personality traits (agreeableness, extraversion, conscientiousness, openness, and neuroticism) influence a student's innovative digital attitude and their intention to pursue digital entrepreneurial ventures. It also investigates the moderating role of digital entrepreneurial education in strengthening the link between innovative digital attitude and digital entrepreneurial intention. The findings suggest that while personality traits directly impact innovative digital attitude, their influence on entrepreneurial intention is largely mediated by this digital attitude, with education further enhancing this relationship.

  • E01S01 - Literature reviews as independent studies: guidelines for academic practice
    Jul 25 2025

Review articles or literature reviews are a critical part of scientific research. While numerous guides on literature reviews exist, these often focus on the philosophy of review procedures, protocols, and nomenclatures, leading to non-parsimonious reporting and confusion due to overlapping similarities. To address the limitations above, we adopt a pragmatic approach to demystify and shape the academic practice of conducting literature reviews. We concentrate on the types, focuses, considerations, methods, and contributions of literature reviews as independent, standalone studies. As such, our article serves as an overview that scholars can rely upon to navigate the fundamental elements of literature reviews as standalone and independent studies, without getting entangled in the complexities of review procedures, protocols, and nomenclatures.
