About this listen

In this episode of Youngstown Mob Talk, Johnny Chechitelli and James Naples discuss the unbelievable true story of Benjamin Holmes. Ben tells his story as a mechanic in the late 1970s in Youngstown, who specialized in making car parts for drag racers. One day, some Muslim gangsters approached Ben to convert lawnmower mufflers into silencers for pistols. Next, the mob wanted his services as well.

As detailed in Ben's book "Mob Deep," he got mixed up between Joey Naples' gangsters, fake Muslim gangsters and crooked cops from the Hubbard Police Department. Eventually, Ben's house was bombed and he was badly burned. He was also threatened with charges from the cops, so he faked his own death and hid out on the lam for two decades, until the coast was clear... or so he thought.
