    Aug 5 2022

Hey, this is Nahaila from, You Can Learn to Edit. This is a podcast series where I discuss different podcast editing topics. Please like, share, and subscribe to this podcast. So you just started podcasting. That's awesome! You did it! You started! That's a good thing! And now you're noticing that maybe it's time to start adding video to your already awesome podcast, but you're just not really sure how. So, that's what we're talking about today. How can you record your podcast and have a video portion of it as well?

So maybe you're like me and you're on a budget and you need a simple and easy to use app to record your podcast. Well, I'm here to tell you that Canva is an option. If you need a free way to record your video or your audio, and you have a computer that can't handle any of the other recording softwares, Canva is a great option for you. I started recording on Canva because at the time I only had a Chromebook , and there were only a few recording software options for me to choose from. The great thing about Canva is that you can use it to record your video and your audio. You can record on a computer and they have plenty of templates to choose from. So if you're using Canva Basic, you can upload up to five gigabytes of media. And if you need more than that, consider upgrading to Canva Pro; Canva for Education; Canva for Nonprofits, because the users: you can store up to a hundred gigabytes of media. And if you need more than that, consider upgrading to Canva for Enterprise because the users have unlimited storage. So, I recorded my podcast on Canva's recording studio, and this is my experience.  It's really easy to use. They have some really fun filters to pick from, and if you need to do screen recording as well: they have a screen recording option.

In summary, if you need a free, easy to use, recording studio, Canva also has a recording feature in the app. Try Canva for yourself here: https://partner.canva.com/c/3473664/647168/10068 What about you? Have you ever used Canva to record your project? Tell me about your experience in the comment section. • Five Free Apps to Do Some Basic Audio and Video Editing
    Jul 29 2022

Hey, this is Nahaila from, You Can Learn to Edit! This is a podcast series where I discuss different podcast editing topics. Please like, share ,and subscribe to this podcast.  So you finished your awesome podcast. You said all you needed to say, but what are you going to edit your podcast with? That is what we're talking about today. So here are five free apps that you can use to edit your podcast, audio, or slash and video .

Number one, Wondershare Filmora. With this app, you can edit; you can edit out tangents; add music; add captions; fix the audio all for free. They offer a ton of things like royalty-free, stock media; visual effects plugins; and plenty of templates. We love a good template. They have a paid subscription if you want to upgrade, and enjoy other paid features that they offer.

Number two, Riverside. With Riverside, you can do some basic editing ; edit out your tangents; add intro and outro music; remove background sound, and fix the audio levels all for free. You can also export your video to other software editing apps if you choose: very seamless. And if you need a little bit more, you can also upgrade to the paid plans that allow you to do a little more, heavy duty, recording, and some extra editing.

Number three, WeVideo. WeVideo allows you to edit videos for free and add some music. In the free plan, they also offer screen recording; voiceover; Gif creator; export audio only. That's basically, if you wanna just extract the audio: no video, they offer that. Multiple video formats, save to any device; free templates, exported resolution of 480 P and one gig of storage. You can export your edit video directly to other social media platforms as well. Really nice feature! There is a publishing limit of five minutes with the basic plan. So if you need something longer, look into upgrading to the paid plans.

Number four: Canva. I am actually recording this podcast using Canva. So besides being an award-winning graphic design app. Canva also has a feature that allows you to record video and edit. You can add filters to the video; add in some music, and lower the sound. If you don't need to do any heavy duty editing, Canva is a great option for quick edits and music add-ons .Consider upgrading to the paid plans and you'll be able to do a little bit more with your video editing.

Number five: Descript. Descript has a free plan that allows you to do some basic editing, and other heavy duty editing. I do love using Descript. I use it all the time for recording and editing. I use the basic plan and they also have a paid plan that gives you a lot more for a good price. Descript, in the basic plan, it offers editing; and it gives you transcription: three hours of transcription; full audio and video editing; unlimited screen recordings; overdub trial, and studio sound effect. Guys, studio sound effect is so good! It makes your podcast sound so professional. If you don't have an expensive mic, or a mic that has a very good quality; studio sound makes your mic sound like you paid a whole lot of money for it. If you have never edited before, Descript is the way to go. It's so easy to use, and you will enjoy editing as you learn.

What about you? What are your five favorite free apps to use to do some basic editing? Leave me a comment in the common section. And let's, let's just be real. Editing can be a lot of work. And I totally understand, I edit my own podcast. So if you need some help editing your podcast, shoot me an email.

  • Descript Review- My Five Favorite Things
    Jul 22 2022

Hey, this is Nahaila from, You Can Learn to Edit!

This is a podcast series where I discuss different podcast editing topics. Please, like, share, and subscribe to this podcast.

Descript is an awesome editing app and if you haven't already signed up, here is a link to try it for yourself: https://www.descript.com?lmref=i-CvIQ

Riverside is the recording app that I used to film this video.

I had a great time using it. Go ahead and try them for yourself here:  https://riverside.fm/?utm_campaign=campaign_2&utm_medium=affiliate&utm_source=rewardful&via=nahaila

When you sign-up through those links, I may receive compensation.

Now back to the show !  So here are my favorite things about Descript. I've been looking forward to this.

Number one, the fancy captions tool. I love the fancy captions tool.

I love the fancy captions tool. It allows me to caption my video instantly.

No more typing by hand. All you have to do is highlight the script, apply fancy captions, and it aligns the captions to the audio automatically. It's so easy.

Number two. Transcribing in Descript.    The transcription editor allows me to transcribe the video quickly, and it automatically detects transcription errors; speeding up the cleanup process.

Number three. I love studio sound. sigh. It makes it so much better. Listen, these headphones, I'm grateful for them, but they just don't make the sound that great.  It doesn't sound that great. What do I love about studio sound? It makes my cheap, poor quality, headphones, sound expensive. My podcast sounds better with it.

Number four. The effects filters. They make podcasts sound editing a breeze. My podcast sounds so much better and I have a whole lot of options to choose from. I can spend all day playing with the Descript sound effects. You have to try them for yourself.

And number five. Editing in Descript. Descript editor. This is my favorite thing. This is my most favorite thing. Descript allows me to edit my podcast in minutes , and what used to take me days to do, without descript editor, now I can do in seconds, depending on what it is. And the editing process has been cut in half for me.  If you are a beginner editor, listen, Descript is the way to go. You can learn to edit and enjoy that process because of Descript. I don't hate editing anymore.

What about you? What are your favorite things about Descript? Let me know in the comment section.

Okay. Listen, podcast editing can take a while. That's true, but it doesn't have to if you ask for some help. So if you need some help editing your podcast, send me an email at nhughesmitchell@gmail.com.   We can discuss your podcast and the services I provide. Have a good day!
