About this listen

  • One of the most famous Greek myths tells the story of a young Icarus, whose father Daedalus had built him wings to escape King Minos so they could fly to safety. It's said that while flying over the Greek island of Ikaria, Icarus flew too close to the Sun and his wings melted, pelting him to his death in the rocky sea below.

In this podcast episode, astrologers Alicia Cielle Heiser and Lori Kaufman talk about their pilgrimage to the island of Ikaria, where they visited the rock where Icarus is said to have fallen. This island is also considered a blue zone, where many people live to be 100 and have healthier lives than much of the world. And it is a beautiful location with ancient wine, panagiria festivals, thermal hot springs and a slow-paced life.
