About this listen

My Guest Vicki Shevlin is now a senior social worker within the safeguarding team, but formerly spent time working in  Frontline Child Protection.

On this podcast we cover some really difficult topics and hopefully give you a new perspective on the importance of Social Workers in our communities.

We cover:

  • Why our communities need Social workers
  • What does a social worker on the frontline of child protection do?
  • What makes someone a good social worker?
  • The impact of the cost of living crisis on our communities
  • Post Pandemic Social Work
  • Dealing with families in a highly emotive container must be intensely hard, how do Social Workers cope with that?
  • Mental Health within Public Services
  • The difference between UK/US social workers

Vicki Shevlin runs Social Work Sorted - an online resource and education platform for Social Workers. Started during the pandemic to help new social workers upskill, it's now developing to help social workers in all departments across the globe.
