Der Abschlussbericht einer Studie von Prof. Ueffing und seinem Team war der Anlass, hier noch einmal nachzufragen. Die Studie untersucht die VCP Hemmung und deren Auswirkungen auf die Zapfendegeneration. Bei Störungen werden Proteine falsch gefaltet und dies führt zu einer Funktionsstörung und Verformung von Zellen. In der Studie konnte gezeigt werden, dass dieser Prozess aufgehalten werden kann und das scharfe Sehen, das durch die Zapfen erreicht wird, erhalten werden kann. Der nächste Schritt ist eine klinische Studie, die momentan in Vorbereitung ist. Wir haben also nicht das letzte Mal mit Prof Ueffing gesprochen.
