Unbothered/Submissive Mindset Notes
What is it?
-Unbothered is another word for SURRENDER
-You can only surrender when you are aware of who you are in Christ. If you don’t know your identity from GOD, satan will tell you who you are NOT
-Allow GOD to take the wheel (surrendering, laying your hands down, surrendering to Christ)
-To some it may appear that I don’t care or I am doing something behind the scenes.
-You’re called to step out in faith even though it’s scary.
-You give up a habit, attitude, or comfort zone that doesn’t align with His Word.
-You trust Him with your future, finances, health, kids, career—all of it.
How to get it?
-It was given when we said, “Yes” to Jesus.
1. Acknowledge You’re Not in Control
First, admit the truth: You’re not God. You can’t fix everything, know everything, or carry everything.
- Pray honestly: “Lord, I can’t handle this on my own. I give it to You.”
- Psalm 46:10 — “Be still, and know that I am God.”
2. Confess and Repent
Surrender means letting go of sin, pride, or anything that’s blocking your connection with Him.
- Tell God the truth. He already knows, but confession sets you free.
- 1 John 1:9 — “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us…”
3. Release Specific Areas to Him
Don’t just say, “Lord, I surrender all.” Be specific.
- “I surrender my job.”
- “I surrender my relationship.”
- “I surrender my anger, my fear, my kids…”
Literally name it. Lay it down in prayer.
4. Pray Daily for His Will Over Yours
Jesus prayed: “Not my will, but Yours be done.” (Luke 22:42)
- Start your day: “Lord, guide my steps. Close the doors I shouldn’t walk through. Open the ones You have for me.”
5. Obey Even When It’s Hard
Surrender isn’t just a feeling—it’s action.
- If God tells you to leave a toxic relationship…leave.
- If He prompts you to give, forgive, speak up, stay quiet—do it.
- John 14:15 — “If you love me, keep my commands.”
6. Trust His Timing
Surrender means you’re letting God handle not only how things happen—but when.
- Isaiah 55:8-9 — “For my thoughts are not your thoughts…”
7. Rest in His Peace
When you surrender, you can finally rest because you’re not carrying the weight alone.
- Philippians 4:6-7 — “…the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
How to implement it?
- -For me it was when I became tired of myself.
- -It wasn’t from a book, Devotional or a Video
- -I began to really understand that I do not control anything or anyone…not even myself
- -I had zero control and I had nothing left.
- -I allowed GOD to not just take me through, but to fight the battle for me
Scripture Reference:
Here’s the tough truth: Surrender doesn’t always feel good at first. Your flesh will fight it. But that’s why Jesus said:
“Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.” (Luke 9:23)
That’s the place where real love, real purpose, and real unbothered peace begin.
