About this listen

In this episode of the A&D Podcast, Austin and Dietrich break down the USA Eagles' international test match against Spain in Charlotte, NC, on July 12th, 2025. It was a rocky start for the Eagles, with Spain scoring early and capitalizing on handling errors and shaky set pieces from the American side. The USA found themselves down three tries just 22 minutes in, raising serious questions about their forward pack and overall discipline.

But there were glimmers of hope. Ben Bannaso crossed the line at the 35-minute mark to put the Eagles on the board, and a fortunate second try helped close the gap heading into halftime. The guys dive into how the timing issues that hurt the USA early began to plague Spain as the game wore on, and how the second-half scrums showed improvement, but still left plenty to be desired

Austin and Dietrich give their honest take on what’s going wrong with the USA’s forward play, where the team needs to grow, and whether this game signals deeper problems or just a bad day at the office.
