About this listen

Tory Lanez’s legal team is now arguing that he didn’t shoot Megan Thee Stallion, and they claim new evidence supports his innocence. During a press event, his lawyers revealed that a man named Bradley James — who says he was once the bodyguard for Megan’s former friend Kelsey Harris — recently came forward. According to them, James stated he overheard Kelsey admitting that she was the one who shot Megan. James didn’t testify during the original trial and was also absent from the press conference. Despite this, Lanez’s attorneys are calling on California Governor Gavin Newsom to grant him a pardon, although no official request has been filed yet. Megan’s attorney, Alex Spiro, dismissed the claims. He emphasized that Lanez was convicted by a jury and that the legal process played out as it should. In his words, “This is not a political matter — this is a case of a violent assault that was resolved in the court of law.” This comes shortly after Lanez was reportedly stabbed 14 times in prison, causing both of his lungs to collapse. The attacker, identified as Santino Casio, is serving a life sentence for murder. Lanez has since stabilized and is breathing on his own again. Lanez is currently serving a 10-year sentence following his December 2022 conviction. He was found guilty of assault with a firearm, discharging a weapon with gross negligence, and carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle during the July 2020 incident. As of now, no new evidence has been formally submitted in court, and his conviction remains in place.
