  • the reality that comes post partum and the power of ideals
    Apr 12 2024

In today's episode, one of my closest friend's Sarah Markslag shares her life long dream of becoming a mother but also the journey that came post partum.

Sarah and I also explore the power of ideals, how this is embedded at such a young age and the constant need to fit into today's society.

Sarah refers to a fantastic book that we would both recommend to any mother but also partners so they can appreciate the struggles that can come post birth.

After the Storm Postnatal Depression and the Utter Weirdness of New Motherhood by Emma Jane Unsworth which you can purchase in most bookshops and available also online.

If you experience feelings of post natal blues, depression, psychosis, don't sit on it - talk about it and reach out to your gp who can put the right support in place for you.

There is also a wonderful charity called Shout which is the UK's first and only free, confidential, 24/7 text messaging service for anyone who is struggling to cope. simply text 85258. You can find out more here: https://giveusashout.org/about-us/about-shout/

We talk about her experience as a tech editor in one of the world leading newsprovider organisations. We cover pay negotations; what it feels like to step up in our jobs and the imposter syndrome that comes with that but also we explore society's influence on women and what we can learn from men.
