 When Lance Treadwell volunteers for a fire-watch post deep in the Appalachian backcountry, he expects solitude and quiet—just a week alone in an aging tower keeping an eye out for smoke. But after a routine check on a dead radio repeater, he realizes something else is in those woods. Something that doesn’t want him there.
