About this listen

We think that theology is best figured out when folks are humble and willing to talk things out with people who maybe don't agree with them, as opposed to pridefully thinking one person has all of the answers and everyone who thinks differently is dumb. Pull up a chair, let's figure this out together.Nate Petersen Christianity Spirituality

  • Episode 5 - Calvinism and Non-Calvinism (Part One)
    Jun 4 2025

We could be on this one for a while...

In this episode, Nate gives a little bit of personal back-story when it comes to his stance on Calvinism vs. Non-Calvinism. He also points out some flaws in labeling the debate as "Calvinism vs. Arminianism".

Looking ahead to the next episode, he also spells out a few things that do NOT define historical Calvinism, and a few things that modern Calvinism would benefit from focusing on (instead of what it is famous for focusing on).

  • Episode 4 - Cessationism and Continuationism (Part 3)
    May 27 2025

Nate answers some of the questions from listeners on the debate between cessationism and continuationism:

    • Is cessationism a historically Reformed position?
    • Is it always God's will to heal someone?
    • What about interpretation of tongues?
    • Is the gift of tongues a private prayer language? An unknown heavenly language? Or is it a real language?

Thanks for submitting questions and comments! Your input is always appreciated!

  • Episode 3 - Cessationism and Continuationism (Part 2)
    May 19 2025

In this episode, we continue our discussion on whether the supernatural gifts of the Holy Spirit are still functioning in the Church today. We look at this topic specifically in the area of "Baptism of the Holy Spirit". Is baptism in the Spirit something that happens at the moment of salvation, or is it something that happens later in a believer's life, and should be sought after on a continual basis? We'll look at both sides of the argument, and then wrap this discussion up with what can be a safe middle ground to pitch our theological tent.
