• Nevada Weather 3/9 Morning - Clear Skies
    Mar 9 2026
Good morning. Nevada. I'm Michael Mosby. Step outside and you'll feel something that doesn't belong in early March. This is late May weather showing up way too early. Las Vegas climbs to 78 degrees today. That's fifteen degrees above normal. Reno hits 70. Even the higher elevations across Eastern Nevada reach 65. We're not talking about a nice warm day — we're talking about temperatures that could challenge records. Tonight stays mild. Las Vegas drops to 52. Northern Nevada cools to 38. Eastern areas settle near 32. Light winds, mostly calm. Tuesday? More of the same. Las Vegas reaches 79. Reno hits 65. Eastern Nevada sees 56. The only wrinkle: winds pick up Tuesday afternoon, gusting to 20 miles an hour across the north. Now here's where it gets wild. This isn't a one-day event. This is a pattern that's digging in for the long haul. Wednesday through Sunday, temperatures keep climbing. By Thursday. Las Vegas hits 87. Friday could touch 89. And by the weekend? Here comes low 90s in the south. Reno climbs into the mid 70s. Eastern Nevada reaches the upper 60s to low 70s. Las Vegas has a shot at hitting 90 degrees Friday — which would tie the earliest 90-degree day on record. Daily and monthly records are on the table through the weekend. The only break comes late Saturday into Sunday when a weak system might clip far northern Nevada with isolated showers. Emphasis on might. Otherwise, plan on sunshine, warmth. And afternoons that feel more like spring break than early March. Slather on the sunscreen if you're spending time outdoors late week. See you this afternoon.

We've got a massive temperature spread statewide today. Down south, you're basking in 77 degrees under clear skies. That's ten degrees above normal for early March. Up north? Reno tops out at 69, but Ely starts the day shivering at 28 degrees. The real story is the wind. The Sierra ridges are getting hammered today. Gusts are peaking at 80 miles an hour up there. That's enough to knock a hiker off balance. Here's the breakdown. Las Vegas climbs to 77 today with a light breeze at 7 to 13 miles an hour. Tonight cools to 51. Then Sunday soars to 79. By midweek, we flirt with 88 degrees. Spring is here early and it's not looking back. Reno sits pretty at 69 today. It stays pleasant with mostly clear skies. A weak cool front Tuesday knocks temps down slightly. But 70s return by Thursday. Ely wakes up to 28 degrees. You only hit 63 this afternoon. Winds shift from northeast to southwest, but moisture is nowhere to be found. A cool-down Tuesday drops highs to 53. Then 60s return by the weekend. Looking ahead, a stubborn ridge of high pressure parks over the West. This locks in dry, sunny days and unseasonably warm afternoons. Southern Nevada could hit 89 by next Saturday. That's nearly 25 degrees above normal. Northern valleys settle into the 70s. One last note before you go. Don't forget to set your clocks forward tonight. We're gaining daylight fast.
