About this listen

Good morning. Nevada. I'm Michael Nally. First things first. Spring forward! Daylight Saving Time kicked in at 2 A.M., so you just lost an hour of sleep. The trade-off? Sunset now comes at 6:42 P.M. More daylight this evening means you can actually enjoy the outdoors after work. And what a week to enjoy it. High pressure is settling over the Great Basin like a warm blanket, bringing sunshine and temperatures that'll make you forget it's early March. Las Vegas hits 76 degrees today under clear skies. Light north winds around 6 miles an hour. Tonight drops to 51 degrees — perfect for patio weather if you ask me. Reno climbs to 71 degrees this afternoon. That's well above normal for this time of year. Light southeast winds. Tonight's low dips to 38 degrees. Over in Elko, expect 64 degrees with light southwest winds. Tonight falls to 33 degrees under mostly clear skies. Here's your heads-up for the week ahead. Monday stays sunny and warm — Las Vegas hits 79. Reno reaches 70. Elko climbs to 64. Tuesday brings a slight cooldown as a weak cool front pushes through northern Nevada. Expect breezy west winds gusting to 35 miles an hour in some spots. Temperatures drop a few degrees, but stay dry statewide. By Wednesday, the warming trend resumes. Las Vegas climbs back into the upper 70s, approaching 80 degrees. Thursday and Friday? Even warmer. Las Vegas could hit 85 Thursday and 88 Friday. That's 25 degrees to 20 degrees above normal. Record territory is within reach by next weekend. Stay hydrated if you're spending time outdoors late week when temperatures soar. See you this afternoon.
