• Mississippi Weather 3/10 Morning - Flood Warning
    Mar 10 2026
Good morning. Mississippi. I'm Michael Mosby. Step outside right now and you'll feel that thick Gulf air wrapping around you like a warm blanket. We're sitting at 68 degrees after a mild night. And patchy fog is hugging the coast this morning — should burn off by lunch. Today stays mostly cloudy with that southerly breeze pumping in moisture, while jackson climbs to 84 degrees. Down on the coast. Gulfport hits 76, up north around Tupelo. Here comes 82. Winds gust to 20 miles an hour this afternoon, so hold onto your hat if you're outside. As the sun sets. Tonight stays muggy — lows in the mid to upper 60s under mostly cloudy skies. Now here's where things get interesting. Wednesday afternoon, a strong cold front barrels in from Texas bringing scattered showers and thunderstorms. But Wednesday night is the real concern, some of those storms could turn severe with damaging winds, large hail. And tornadoes all possible. Heavy rain too — expect 1 to 2 inches, maybe more in spots. Highs reach the low 80s before the front arrives. Thursday brings a dramatic flip, rain clears out by morning, skies turn sunny, but temperatures crash. Highs only reach the low 60s with gusty north winds making it feel even cooler. That's a 38 degrees-degree drop from Wednesday. The rest of the week looks much better. Friday starts chilly in the low 40s but rebounds to the low 70s under sunny skies. The weekend warms nicely — upper 70s Saturday, low 80s Sunday — before another system arrives Sunday night with more showers and storms. Keep an eye on the sky Wednesday night. We'll have updates as that severe weather threat gets closer. Looking ahead. See you this afternoon.

  • Mississippi Weather 3/8 Midday - Dense Fog Advisory
    Mar 8 2026
Good afternoon. Mississippi. I'm Matt Mullins. If you stepped outside early, you felt it. That thick, muggy air clinging to your skin like a wet towel. Last night's rain dumped over an inch statewide. And those clouds are still loitering this morning. The heavy stuff is done, though. A few stray showers might pop up around noon, but most of you stay dry as skies gradually clear this afternoon. Temperature-wise, we're running warm for early March. Central Mississippi tops out near 76 degrees before cooling to 72 this afternoon. The Gulf Coast sits at 74, dropping to 70. Northern Mississippi reaches 73. Tonight's mild too — lows settle in the upper 50s to mid 60s. Monday brings our next weather story. And it's a doozy. A warm front lifts north, pumping in Gulf moisture and cranking up instability. By afternoon, thunderstorms fire up. And some could turn severe — especially north of Interstate 20. We're talking golf ball-sized hail as the primary threat, with damaging winds and maybe a brief tornado possible. Rain chances hit 60 percent, with highs climbing to 78 in the north, 80 in central areas. And 75 along the coast. Here's the week ahead. Tuesday stays mostly cloudy with highs in the low 80s — no rain. Wednesday's the big one. Another storm system rolls through with showers and thunderstorms likely, especially afternoon and evening. We could see another round of severe weather. Behind that front. Thursday turns cooler and sunny — highs only in the low 60s, with morning lows dropping to the low 40s. Friday and Saturday? Beautiful. Sunshine returns, temps climb back to the 70s. In Bottom line, enjoy the quiet today, but stay weather-aware Monday and Wednesday. See you this evening.
