About this listen

Good morning. Mississippi. I'm Michael Nally. You woke up to an inch of rain and 65 degrees. The wet stuff's not done yet. Thunderstorms are rolling through this morning before tapering off by afternoon. Down along the Gulf Coast, patchy fog and thunderstorms linger through early afternoon. High of 74 degrees. Central Mississippi sees those storms wrapping up by early afternoon, topping out at 75. Up north, scattered rain showers clear out by midday, with highs reaching 73. Tonight stays mild and mostly cloudy. Lows settle in the low to mid-60s statewide — warmer than you'd expect for early March. Monday brings a warmup. Highs climb to the upper 70s to low 80s. But here's the catch. Afternoon thunderstorms develop, especially north of Interstate 20. A few could turn severe with large hail and damaging winds. The threat fades after sunset. Tuesday looks like the warmest day of the week. Highs push into the low 80s under mostly cloudy skies. It stays dry through Tuesday night. Wednesday is when things get active again. Showers and thunderstorms return by afternoon, with another round of severe weather possible. This system brings gusty winds and another inch of beneficial rainfall before clearing out Wednesday night. Behind that front. Thursday turns cooler and sunny. Highs drop to the low to mid-60s — below normal for mid-March. Friday morning brings the coldest temperatures of the week, with lows in the low 40s. The weekend rebounds nicely. Sunshine returns Friday with highs in the low 70s. Saturday stays mostly sunny with temperatures climbing into the mid to upper 70s. Don't forget to spring forward tonight. Clocks move ahead one hour. See you this afternoon.
