About this listen

Good morning. Mississippi. I'm Aaron Jolly. Step outside right now and you'll feel it. That thick, humid air wrapping around you like a warm blanket. We're sitting at 69 degrees under gray skies. And folks, we're running hot for early March. Down along the Gulf Coast, patchy fog this morning burns off by 8 A.M. You'll climb to 73 degrees by afternoon. Watch for thunderstorms between noon and 3 P.M. Tonight settles to 67 degrees under mostly cloudy skies. Up north, it's even warmer. Partly cloudy skies give way to afternoon storms as you soar to 80 degrees — that's 55 degrees warmer than usual for this time of year. Thunderstorms fire up between noon and 5 P.M., peaking around 1 P.M. Tonight drops to 64 degrees with a slight chance of showers before 7 P.M. Saturday brings the big show. A cold front sweeps through with widespread storms and heavy rain. Northern Mississippi could see three-quarters to one inch of rainfall. The coast stays mild at 74 degrees while the north hits 77 before temperatures tumble. Sunday keeps the unsettled pattern going with showers and thunderstorms likely statewide. Highs in the low to mid 70s. Looking ahead to next week. Monday brings another round of storms with highs in the upper 70s. Tuesday offers a brief break — partly sunny skies and highs near 76 along the coast, 81 up north. Wednesday ramps up again with thunderstorms likely. Thursday sees scattered storms with highs in the low 70s. The National Weather Service is watching Saturday's front closely. Damaging winds and hail are the main threats. This will be our most significant rain event since January. Stay weather-aware this weekend. See you tomorrow. For the extended outlook, check the latest forecast See you tomorrow.
