  • Mississippi Weather 3/8 Midday - Dense Fog Advisory
    Mar 8 2026
Good afternoon. Mississippi. I'm Matt Mullins. If you stepped outside early, you felt it. That thick, muggy air clinging to your skin like a wet towel. Last night's rain dumped over an inch statewide. And those clouds are still loitering this morning. The heavy stuff is done, though. A few stray showers might pop up around noon, but most of you stay dry as skies gradually clear this afternoon. Temperature-wise, we're running warm for early March. Central Mississippi tops out near 76 degrees before cooling to 72 this afternoon. The Gulf Coast sits at 74, dropping to 70. Northern Mississippi reaches 73. Tonight's mild too — lows settle in the upper 50s to mid 60s. Monday brings our next weather story. And it's a doozy. A warm front lifts north, pumping in Gulf moisture and cranking up instability. By afternoon, thunderstorms fire up. And some could turn severe — especially north of Interstate 20. We're talking golf ball-sized hail as the primary threat, with damaging winds and maybe a brief tornado possible. Rain chances hit 60 percent, with highs climbing to 78 in the north, 80 in central areas. And 75 along the coast. Here's the week ahead. Tuesday stays mostly cloudy with highs in the low 80s — no rain. Wednesday's the big one. Another storm system rolls through with showers and thunderstorms likely, especially afternoon and evening. We could see another round of severe weather. Behind that front. Thursday turns cooler and sunny — highs only in the low 60s, with morning lows dropping to the low 40s. Friday and Saturday? Beautiful. Sunshine returns, temps climb back to the 70s. In Bottom line, enjoy the quiet today, but stay weather-aware Monday and Wednesday. See you this evening.

  • Mississippi Weather 3/8 Morning - Thunderstorms Starting 7 AM
    Mar 8 2026
Good morning. Mississippi. I'm Michael Nally. You woke up to an inch of rain and 65 degrees. The wet stuff's not done yet. Thunderstorms are rolling through this morning before tapering off by afternoon. Down along the Gulf Coast, patchy fog and thunderstorms linger through early afternoon. High of 74 degrees. Central Mississippi sees those storms wrapping up by early afternoon, topping out at 75. Up north, scattered rain showers clear out by midday, with highs reaching 73. Tonight stays mild and mostly cloudy. Lows settle in the low to mid-60s statewide — warmer than you'd expect for early March. Monday brings a warmup. Highs climb to the upper 70s to low 80s. But here's the catch. Afternoon thunderstorms develop, especially north of Interstate 20. A few could turn severe with large hail and damaging winds. The threat fades after sunset. Tuesday looks like the warmest day of the week. Highs push into the low 80s under mostly cloudy skies. It stays dry through Tuesday night. Wednesday is when things get active again. Showers and thunderstorms return by afternoon, with another round of severe weather possible. This system brings gusty winds and another inch of beneficial rainfall before clearing out Wednesday night. Behind that front. Thursday turns cooler and sunny. Highs drop to the low to mid-60s — below normal for mid-March. Friday morning brings the coldest temperatures of the week, with lows in the low 40s. The weekend rebounds nicely. Sunshine returns Friday with highs in the low 70s. Saturday stays mostly sunny with temperatures climbing into the mid to upper 70s. Don't forget to spring forward tonight. Clocks move ahead one hour. See you this afternoon.

  • Mississippi Weather 3/7 Evening - Flash Flood Frolic
    Mar 8 2026
Good evening. Mississippi. I'm Michael Nally. Well, folks, we've officially skipped spring and gone straight to sauna. We've already picked up almost an inch of rain. And with temperatures sitting **41 degrees above normal**, the air feels thick enough to chew. It's a warm, wet mess out there. In First, a heads-up, **Flash Flood Warnings** are flying for Wilkinson and Amite counties until 9:45 PM. Some spots have seen 4 to 6 inches of rain. And the ground just can't take any more. Meanwhile, a **Severe Thunderstorm Watch** covers parts of south Mississippi until 9 PM. Damaging winds and hail are the main threats there. Let's tour the state. Up in **Tupelo**, you're sitting at 60 degrees under heavy rain. But here's the weird part—temperatures will actually climb overnight into the low 60s as storms roll through. You hit 73 degrees tomorrow, but keep the rain gear handy through the morning. **Jackson** is the bullseye today at 64 degrees. Showers and thunderstorms become likely after 9 PM, with up to another inch of rain possible. It stays incredibly mild tonight, dipping only to 64—running 41 degrees warmer than usual. Sunday brings a high of 75, but storms stick around, especially in the morning. **Down on the Gulf Coast**, it's a soggy one. **Biloxi** sits at 66 degrees with heavy rain and patchy fog. Expect an additional 1 to 2 inches of rain through the night. Highs hit 74 tomorrow, but storms likely continue through the afternoon. Looking ahead, this storm train isn't stopping. Monday pushes highs near 81 degrees with more severe storms possible. Tuesday offers a brief, dry break in the low 80s before another system brings severe weather Wednesday. Then, get this—Thursday crashes into the mid-60s, followed by a sunny Saturday near 80 degrees. If you see water covering the road tonight, turn around. Don't drown. See you tomorrow.
