  • Clearing at The Glasgow School of Art
    Jul 24 2025

Clearing is a simple way to apply to The Glasgow School of Art, and offers those who not currently have a place to study on an undergraduate course the option to apply for study at the GSA in autumn 2025.

In this episode of The Glasgow School of Art podcast, we hear from David Miller - Team Leader for the GSA admissions team. David talks you through the process of Clearing, how to do it, and what you need to have in order to apply.

We also hear from two current students - Naomi Bull, a Sculpture and Environmental Art student going into her final year of study, and Deidre Mcintosh who is currently studying on the MLitt Curatorial Practice (Contemporary Art) programme, and who moved from Canada to study in Glasgow. They both discuss what they like most about studying at the GSA, the creative friendships and networks that you can build here, and some of their favourite spots in the city.

Clearing at The Glasgow School of Art is open, and you can apply directly to us for study in 2025. Visit www.gsa.ac.uk/clearing to find out everything you need to know about applying through Clearing, and to get a link to the application form.

    Episode notes:

Home, Rest of UK and International

    • 'Home' Students refers to students who have a relevant connection to Scotland.
    • Rest of UK (RUK) students are applying from outside of Scotland, but within the UK.
    • International students are those applying outside of the UK who require a visa to study here.

    What is advanced entry?

Not all the new students on our four-year undergraduate degree programmes come straight from secondary school or begin their studies in first year. We accept a range of qualifications, and many of our entrants come with advanced entry – meaning they begin their studies in second or third year.

    Find out more.

    What is CAS?

Confirmation of Acceptance of Studies or CAS is a specific requirement for International applicants who receive an offer and require a visa. A CAS is issued from an education provider once an applicant has confirmed that they want to take up their offer and have met any conditions required for that offer, for example proof of qualifications and English Language test scores. The CAS can then be used to make a VISA application.
