  • How new graduate Tessa Machin has handled her first year with The Physio Co
    Sep 15 2023

In this episode, new graduate Tessa Machin sits down with Tristan White and Jess Soding to discuss how she is progressing thus far at The Physio Co (TPC).

Tessa joined TPC as a community physio in February of this year, having originally found out about the company at the APA Job Show.

She says general talk at university around community physio roles is that young grads are thrown into the job without much support, but says her experience at TPC suggests otherwise.

According to Tessa, she feels very supported by other TPC physios and that there is a great sense of connection among team members.

Tessa says the biggest thing she's experienced in her first year on the job is developing self-confidence in the role.

Yes, there are challenges that need to be overcome - things like making time to get her admin tasks done - but this is all part and parcel of becoming an effective community physio.

Tessa discusses what she likes about working with elderly clients - specifically building rapport with them, listening to their stories, and being able to help them get results and achieve their meaningful health goals.

If you're not far off graduating and are interested in learning more about what's involved with being a community physio at TPC, head over to JoinTPC.com.au for more information.

  • How Kathy Soo has evolved professionally over 10 years working at TPC
    Aug 7 2023

In this open-ended conversation, experienced physiotherapist Kathy Soo sits down with Tristan White and Jess Soding to discuss her professional journey at The Physio Co (TPC).

Kathy, from Sydney, has been with TPC since 2014 when she shifted down to Geelong in Victoria to take up an aged care role with the company. A lot has happened since: TPC is now a 100% mobile community physio practice (previously the company worked exclusively in aged care facilities), and Kathy has moved back to Sydney and has also become a Mum for the first time. Lots happening!

Kathy's story is a good one. She explained how she wanted to become a teacher but her netball coach was a physio, and this sparked an interest in the practice of physiotherapy.

Kathy decided she liked working with elderly people after doing a hospital placement where she worked in the geriatric ward, and she's specialised in that field ever since.
