Peter Jakob of Connective Strength (UK) and Mary-Jo Land of the Centre for Non-Violent Resistance Therapy and Practice (Canada) discuss the Anchoring Function of Attachment. How does NVR incorporate attachment theory and practice? Initially, Peter didn’t feel “connected” to attachment theory whereas Mary-Jo was completely taken with it. As such they come together from different places for this discussion.

Trust is a key aspect of attachment security. How do we build trust, or re-establish trust when trust has been compromised and the parent-child relationships have become imbued with distrust, fear, and anger? How do we restore closeness after harm and trauma have distanced parents and their offspring from each other. Peter and Mary-Jo discuss the NVR journey to repair and reconciliation in these relationships.
