WGY6@6 Recap Guests: Jason McNamara – The No More 9 to 5 Club Last night, we had Jason McNamara join us from The No More 9 to 5 Club. Jason loved our reminder about “Checking Your 6” and is eager to be part of that mission. He offers another great source of support for those who need it. His program runs through WhatsApp, and you can easily join the group by clicking the link. Featured Artist: Phil Beaver and the Phirejets Phil has a full album written and ready to record — they’re currently negotiating the deal and hoping to move forward soon. It’s a protest-themed album (though even Phil jokes he’s not sure what they’re protesting — but everyone’s doing it, so why not?). Big shoutout to Jason — what you’re doing is amazing and tremendous! Song Lineup: “Comet” – A “drive-by lover” story from the woman’s perspective. Erika brings powerhouse vocals with a heavy keyboard sound. Paws compared it to a blend of Meatloaf and Little Shop of Horrors. “Suck It Up” – A darker, country-inspired song from their second album, written during COVID. It reflects the isolation and heaviness of that time. “Walking on the Moon” – A tribute to the great rockers of the ‘70s (with a nod to the ‘60s and ‘80s too). Phil crafted this as a subliminal mix of familiar riffs and inspiration from legends who keep us rocking. Wreaths Across America – Thank you for honoring our heroes laid to rest in the national cemetery. Click here to learn more. WeP3 RADIO – The only music station featuring songs created, written, produced, and sung by those who’ve served their country and communities. WGY6@6 — November 2, 2025 Guests: Paul Faris – President, Support the Troops MNMusic Guest: Chas Evans We have an incredible show this week, packed with heart, humor, and harmony. This week’s guests brought the energy! Paul Faris, President of Support the Troops MN, joined us to share his organization’s mission and the important work they do for veterans and service members. Paul explained how Support the Troops MN steps in to help those in need—right when they need it most. He walked us through how their system operates, emphasizing teamwork and collaboration with other organizations. For example, their vetting process is handled through trusted partners, which allows them to provide immediate emergency support once needs are verified. Paul also discussed their partnership with the Magnus Foundation, which helps sustain their outreach and fundraising efforts. His message was clear: when small nonprofits join forces, the impact multiplies. Chas Evans brought the music magic! A talented guitarist, performer, and teacher, Chas not only trains others to play but also writes original songs from lyrics people send him. During the show, we challenged him to write a jingle for Support the Troops MN—and he delivered a fun live version on the spot! We’re excited to see where that project goes, and there might even be a future connection with Guitars for Vets in Mississippi. “Dear Mom” – Chas Evans(Ask Chas how this one connects with “Letters From Home” and what inspired it.) “Days When It Won’t Rain” – John Hensley “Ferris Wheel” – CJ Garton Wreaths Across America Thank you to everyone helping us honor our heroes laid to rest at the National Cemetery. This week’s episode brings together two incredible guests—Col. (Ret.) B. Wayne Quist and Dr. Steve Lansing—authors and lifelong advocates for veterans’ mental health. Col. Quist takes us back as far as WWII, sharing his personal experiences with trauma and the cultural expectation to simply “man up” or risk being cast aside. His journey led him to earn a Master’s in Psychology, fueling his passion to study PTSD and help others heal. Through a chance meeting, Col. Quist connected with Dr. Lansing, who brings over 52 years of experience in the mental health field. Together, they’ve researched the long history of war trauma—stretching back 2,500 years to the writings of Plato, Socrates, and ancient Sparta—tracing how society has silenced or misunderstood these wounds of the soul. Their shared mission is clear: to provide hope, healing, and ultimately, suicide prevention. The conversation also highlights powerful stories—from veterans facing Agent Orange fallout to those who found school scarier than combat—underscoring the lasting impact of trauma. Looking ahead, Wayne and Steve are preparing for Veterans Day events in Lake City, where Dr. Lansing will also lead a continuing education course for therapists. We also welcome musician Kim Donnette, a Navy veteran’s spouse with a heart for encouragement and healing through music. Kim shares the deeply moving story behind her first song, “Come Home,” inspired by a bandmate’s painful memory revealed for the first time. She also discusses her new song “You Lied,” born from her mother’s wisdom about the promises parents make and the reality of life’s endings. Her songwriting is raw, heartfelt, and a reminder of how music can knit our worlds together in unexpected ways. As always, we close with updates on projects close to our hearts: Wreaths Across America – Honoring our heroes at rest. WeP3 Radio – Showcasing music created and performed by those who’ve served their country and communities. #communityheroes #patriotpride

This week, we welcome Col. (Ret.) Oak McColluch, who shares his powerful mission, Leadership Legacy. Oak is passionate about teaching servant leadership, a practice he’s lived by since his high school basketball days. His work spreads through four key areas—talks, his book, social media, and his own podcast. He explains that legacy has two parts: what you leave behind in your career and life, and more importantly, the leaders you raise up along the way. “It really is about community,” Oak reminds us, giving heartfelt credit to his wife, who also served. Our musical guest is Joshua Martin, a talented singer-songwriter whose passion for country and Americana music has taken him across the country. Outdoorsy and hardworking, Joshua is preparing to release his next record. He shares three meaningful songs with us: “Fight This War” – written in honor of veterans and those impacted by 9/11. “If I Fall” – a heartfelt piece born from personal struggles after returning from Iraq, reminding us that no one is truly alone. “American Suicide” – a song about honesty, truth, and living authentically. ✨ What We’re Working On: Wreaths Across America – Help us honor the heroes laid to rest at our national cemeteries.
