  • My Hair Defies Gravity
    Jul 20 2025

Jadine and I meet on the Internet in my Instagram comment section. Jadine, a creative (artist to entrepreneur) and I talk about how her commitment to trying everything that interest her created a foundation of communication and exploration. She also expresses her love of her hair journey and her culture. Enjoy!

    Her Bio:

Hailing from Montserrat, West Indies, Jadine migrated to the U.S. at the age of 8. Though she swiftly integrated into her new home, she brought much of her island culture with her. With a great love for costume design and production, she is actively involved in international carnivals and the Caribbean music scene. Her keen eye for detail and quality led her to Barneys New York, where she spent many years advising a wide range of clients. Jadine’s experience in the luxury goods market, coupled with her unique sense of style, made Dove and Donkey the perfect collaboration.

THE CHAIR (S1/Ep75) — My Hair Defies Gravity

    Hello Beautiful People,

    I’m Your Host Dreme.

I’m a Black woman, an educator turned tech entrepreneur but still an educator. Building a platform called THE CHAIR is a Black and Brown centered tech platform dedicated to supporting people on their hair journey. You can design hairboards, connect to hair stylists, and share hair care tips all in one space for a more joyous and streamlined experience. I built THE CHAIR Podcast to highlight hair journeys. A reminder to keep creating magic. As people sit in THE CHAIR you will get more than just hair stories. You will be immersed into experiences surrounding education, entrepreneurship, and identity. I hope you enjoy listening to my stories and the stories of my guests as we sit in THE CHAIR.

  • I Wish I Had A Watermelon
    Jul 6 2025

Karl and I met through an introduction. I was looking for artists and instead I met an art dealer and my curiosity took over. Have you ever met an art dealer? I had not until this moment. So he graciously took me up on my offer to chat about how he entered into the world of art dealership from being a Marketing Director for former Governor Deval Patrick. He also shares hair stories as a child in the barbershop and what joy it brought him. Enjoy!

    His Bio:

Karl McLaurin founded Oak Hill Consulting Partners in 2016 primarily to leverage his broad experience in both private sector business and public sector community building. However, a chance meeting between friends changed his trajectory, as “art dealer” became a life changing addition to his professional repertoire.

Karl’s experience and expertise includes but is not limited to:

    • Artist Representation
    • Corporate Art Consulting and Purchasing
    • Gallery Development and Curation
    • Individual Purchases/Sales and Art Estate Planning
    • Public Speaking: Art/Culture and Community
    • Partnerships Organization

Karl’s appreciation for original fine art has always informed overall perspective, but his advanced knowledge and passion is what ultimately led to the establishment of Oak Hill Consulting Partners with the aim of spreading cultural knowledge and awareness, and introducing diverse art and perspectives to newbie collectors and the corporate world alike.
