We are nearing the end of season one. It is beautiful to say such a thing. Because we are coming closer to our close I thought I would share more about me. A bit more of my story. Where I came from. I hope you enjoy this poem.

Emily and I met at Babson as I was pursuing my MBA. She connected me to resources and we began to develop a friendship. During our three part conversation we engage in talks of how she started her new venture as CEO of The Connectors, business advice and concerns, and her relationship to whiteness and various parts of her identities.

Emily Weiner

Emily Weiner is a systems thinking entrepreneur, business advisor, and mentor who has spent more than 25 years connecting people and ideas to activate change. She models how to bring intentionality to relationships and partnerships, and leaders rely on her ability to connect the dots, especially between people, to help them activate new and expanded opportunities, innovation, and impact. She founded The Connectors to help people of all ages develop effective strategies to form relationships, uncover resources, and shift mindsets to move ideas forward.

Prior to founding The Connectors, Emily served as Chief of Staff at greenlight for girls, an organization that encourages girls to consider STEM-related careers by introducing them to the world of math and science in fun and exciting ways. She was a founding member of The Lewis Institute at Babson College, serving as its Associate Director for 11 years and growing it from an entrepreneurial startup to a multimillion-dollar portfolio of business focused on social impact across all sectors and issues. She developed the Green Events practice for Boston College’s Center for Corporate Citizenship to help link environmental sustainability efforts with corporate social responsibility initiatives. As an entrepreneur, she has started her own businesses and worked for a variety of organizations across sectors, including corporate, nonprofit, academia, and politics (though she promises to never return to politics!).

Emily is an alumna of Wellesley College and is currently an RSA Fellow. She has proudly been a champion and facilitator of Women2Women, an international leadership program for women in their teens and 20s, since 2013 and is privileged to support and empower the next generation of leaders who identify as female.

Ashley and I met as graduate students in Los Angeles. We attended UCLA Teacher Education Program. We bonded over identity development, Chance the Rapper, and our mutual respect for loving our coasts. Ashley talks about how she entered into the world of education, her pursuit of her PhD, and her hair journey.

Her Bio:

Ashley is a 2nd year PhD student in Educational Psychology at USC, where she studies how Black students build their sense of self and belonging in classrooms and gaming environments. Growing up as one of the only Black students in predominantly white classrooms, Ashley experienced firsthand how race shaped her education and these experiences inspired her to create more affirming spaces for youth. She earned her B.A. in Political Science with a minor in Education Studies and an M.Ed. in Education from UCLA. She also taught in early elementary classrooms and conducted research on equity-driven math practices within Title 1 schools. Today, her work focuses on self-concept, resilience, and the cultural wealth Black students bring into classrooms. Through both research and practice, Ashley is passionate about Black students' ability to feel seen and develop confidence in their identities and abilities.

Naadirah and I met many years ago as campers, which envolved into coworkers, and ultimately one of the coolest people I know. She shares her world of camera work and hair transformation during her college years with us. I am grateful Naadirah and I are and will continue to work together on more passion projects. Naadirah did all the camera work as my director of photography for my first ever live roundtable and helped filmed other various interviews, which I am in the process of making short films to come in 2026.

Her Bio:

I’m Naadirah Moore, born and raised in New York City. I am a freelancer with a focus in working within the camera department, an aspiring DP. What’s important to me is the connections we make with other people, and the things we take away from those connections! It teaches us new perspectives that hopefully inspires learning, growth and love!
